LSU is a sleeping giant in basketball and Will Wade is very good at selling this.

I should have also asked if they hired a family member as an assistant coach, you know like Jones and Martin do.

How's HS basketball in Louisiana? Georgia Tech & UGA could be powerhouses with the high school talent in Atlanta alone, but out of state schools are taking players.

LSU should be able to snag any highly rated kid in Louisiana.

No family members. His girlfriend is a scholarship basketball player on the womens team though.

How is LSU landing these kids in 2017 and 2018? Solid, but unspectacular program with a coach that won at a program that his predecessors had no difficulty winning at, either. Not meaning to sound harsh, but this is what it looks like from an outsider's perspective.

LSU generally speaking recruits very well. Johnny Jones landed a handful of big names here.

It's all about AAU connections and a coach that understands that. That's how to get elite players funneled into your program in basketball. Wade has made some really good assistant hires and being a good coach of the game himself attracts some talent. Even some luck with Reid's girlfriend being on the LSU woman's basketball team, so he had a built in angle there.

kind of sounds like an early description of LSU under Les Miles.

Lol, hell yeah LSU is. LSU has a good basketball history. We definitely are a sleeping giant in basketball. Not saying we will ever reach the status of duke, unc, kentucky, Michigan st, arizona, ucla, or a number of the other historically great programs bc that isn't happening, but LSU is a program that has and should expect conference titles, final fours, and maybe a national title at some point down the road. LSU has made 4 final fours, 6 elite eights, and 9 sweet 16s in its history. I personally believe that LSU hasn't reached its full potential in basketball, and will wade may be the man that gets us to that point. I guarantee you bigtime programs are recognizing LSU and will wade right now. Any time you have a school like LSU that is the only bigtime program in a state that's known for producing pro talent in all sports and the recruiting base that we have, you have serious potential. LSU has produced some of the all time greats to ever play the game of basketball dude. Shaq, Pete maravich, Bob petit, and many more that went on to have solid pro careers. It can be done at LSU, and a national title is definitely attainable for us. Hell, weve won a natty in every other men's sport that there is pretty much...so why not basketball, when we have come close several times alrady? It's already paying off in our recruiting and it's only his first offseason. We will be pretty damn good next year already, but in 4 years once wade has his program in full swing and we have the success that I believe he will bring to LSU...watch out for the tigers!

Great coaches make great programs, considering they have the tools to work with, and wade has all the resources possible at LSU plus more...unlimited resources that alot of programs simply do not have. Duke wasn't shite before coach k, if it can be done at a school like duke, it can damn well happen at a powerhouse athletic program like LSU. We are competitive in all sports, both men and womens. I never would have though LSU would have won a title in baseball either, until skip bertman came along and flipped the script and turned us into a dynasty. I didn't think LSU was going to win a natty so soon in football either as a kid bc we sucked when I was growing up under curly hallman...then nick saban came along and flipped the script, and we have won 2 national titles and played for another, made numerous bcs games and won damn near everytime, several sec titles too since saban brought our program where it should be. LSU has sky high potential in basketball as well. It can be done here for sure, no question about it.
