“No doubt about it,” Solomon told BamaOnLine when asked if Alabama was his leader. “They stand by themselves right now. Huge lead”

“They call me at least once a week,” Solomon said. “They need my position. Their message to me is basically you play with us or get beat by us. It’s loud and clear.”

Solomon is a beast. I highly recommend watching his Senior film.

Meh, he's not deciding until closer to March and said just last week that he plans on visiting UGA unofficially at least two more times before then (he's good friends with Trent Thompson and other SOWEGA guys on the team). Think the "lead" changes again once or twice more before he officially commits

Alabama has been the quiet leader for awhile. He might also change his mind about March. Just last week McKinney was saying he won't EE and now he will. Things change with recruiting all of the time.

Best player in this class IMO.

Before that, UGA was the leader and before that it was Michigan. Kid is very impressionable and likes to tell people what they want to hear. We've all seen it before, a kid is kind of under pressure to make a decision and that's when you start to follow the visits. I'm by no means confident UGA will sign him in the end but I think we can all agree that he is far from decided on any one school a this point. We'll see where he ends up visiting throughout the next 2 months

March would be a bit too late, since signing day is in February.

Hasn't it been a foregone conclusion that dude wants to leave GA?

I honestly think he doesn't have a clue what he wants.

He has already said he'll be going beyond NSD. NSD is just the first day that players can sign but they don't ever actually have to sign an NLI if they don't want to (Roquan Smith for example never signed one with UGA, just showed up in the Summer)

What is his reasoning for wanting to wait so late to sign?

It has been assumed that that is the case based on his interest in Michigan and Bama but I honestly don't think anyone knows much for sure about where he'll end up; seems to want to leave the state but then he wants to represent southwest GA and be near his family.

Steve Wiltfong on Solomon:

Hearing him talk about the Tide here at the Army Bowl it's evident who's in the driver's seat right now.

Well, If I'd just watched Bama last night as an impressionable high school DL, I'd feel much the same.

But look at his leader history:

First it was Michigan during the offseason when Harbaugh was at the top of every football news cycle.

Then it was Kirby and UGA just before and throughout the first couple of games when the hype was at its peak.

Then the Bama hype started rolling through the latter end of the season and has kind of hit its peak as they're delivering on the field.

We'll see where things go once the season officially ends (possibly with another Bama title, mind you) and all he has is time to make final visits and the pressure to make a decision to stay at home or leave.

I think he is out of Georgia's reach at this point. Personally I don't want this to turn into another recruitment like the one we lost to Cal so congrats to Bama, he will be a good one.

Can't get them all. UGA is still lining up an all-time class without him. He would definitely be the cherry on top though. Kirby won't give up I can assure you of that.
