Dude is a 2* (Rivals)/3* (247) that plays at Buckhorn. Apparently he did well at UK's camp recently and got an offer.

He's announcing tonight, presumably for Kentucky, and the only other P5 offers he holds are from Minnesota and Purdue.

His HUDL film is ok, but he doesn't seem to be getting much recruiting interest.

How is Buckhorn as a program? Has anyone watched him play?

I'm not familiar with him, and I'm pretty tuned in to this area. I live within 40 miles or so of him. I'll see if I can find anything out about him. If I do, I will post.

All I know is he has a 2017 teammate, Will Ignont, that's one of the top players in the country.

Just got the Catspause text that he committed to UK. Obviously the staff saw something in him. I haven't watched his video. Wonder if they're looking at a position switch.

You're asking the wrong people. He may be in our state, but Auburn and Alabama fans don't know anything about 2*s. Not until one unexpectedly commits seemingly out of the blue and is then immediately upgraded to a 3* the same day.

You should try the Mississippi State board. They're the only ones in the SEC that keep up with 2* recruits from Alabama on a regular basis.

If that doesn't work I suggest you find a Troy, South Alabama, or Jacksonville State message board and cross your fingers that somebody has posted since football season ended and somebody logs on and replies before August..

JaQuize is mixed... We don't talk about color, because he speaks volumes when he plays. The word a lot people use when talking about him is HYBRID!!! He has been recruited as a DT, He CAN PLAY THE TECHNIQUES in the position UK recruited him for. He is on hudl and yes has several films and a highlight tape as well on their. To give u some background... He is a 6'3 305lb fast on his feet Defensive Tackle. He is 17yrs old and is hungry for the game of football. He has had a few struggles but nothing that couldn't be fixed and that hasn't been fixed. Tune into him this season and u will learn everything u need to know about who JA'QUIZE CROSS is. He is topped ranked in Alabama. Does he have as many stars as some players, no but that won't stop his commitment to be the greatest.

As a Kentucky fan who looked into Cross' tape more in-depth after the commitment, I am extremely excited to have him committed.

He is extremely lean and athletic for a 300 lb kid and projects to the 3 technique or to DE or both. Love to have that kind of versatility.

I also heard a rumor that UGA's coaches asked him to come to camp to try to earn an offer but he turned it down, saying that he was solidly committed to Kentucky.

Kids like Cross, with their hunger and loyalty, will go a long ways towards making UK competitive and relevant in the SEC. Can't wait to see him in blue and white.

His name came to me in a dream when I was about 7 months pregnant with him. It was a king in the dream that said he would be Great one day and that I should call him Ja'Quize. I never seem it written but as my due date approached I came up with this spelling of his name. I thought it was unique and when I saw him for the first time, I knew his name would fit him perfectly.
