He is announcing Friday at 11 a.m at his high school.

quote:

Benton, a 6-foot-2, 245-pound linebacker, is a four-star recruit and ranked No. 87 nationally in the 247Sports composite. The 247Sports individual rankings have Benton at No. 44 and No. 1 in the state of Alabama.

Benton was at Big Cat Weekend along with junior receiver Justyn Ross, another Central-Phenix City target. Auburn signed Central defensive back John Broussard in the last class. Benton recently announced a top three of Auburn, Alabama and Florida State. 100 percent of 247Sports Crystal Ball picks have him going to Auburn.

Not sure what to believe. There were rumors bama was rising and the infamous JLee said today he is hearing bama. On the other hand Moultry told 247 before Benton even announced he was going to be committing he thought Benton would be our next commit.

The fact that he is announcing after spending so much time this week at bama doesn't give me the warm & fuzzies. I would say AU 51/49 right now but would not be shocked if he chose bama

Would be weird if at the end of this Benton end up at Bama & Ignont/Moultry at AU considering where all this stood just a few months ago

Curious what bama sites saying

Reuben Foster's uncle, who had Rashaan Evans to Alabama when no one else did, said the other day Benton was likely Alabama bound.

Is it too early to call him a potential flip candidate, before he even commits? I feel he'll pick AU, especially committing this early but there's been talk of UA trending in recent weeks, so it makes you wonder. If he does pick AU, it seems like it'll be far from over and this will turn into one of those intense recruiting battles that AU/UA has for a top prospect or two every year.. with usually UA getting that signature due to business decisions. But If he was going to commit to AU, why wouldn't he have at BCW? Instead of announcing after a long week visiting UA.

I was sort of hoping you guys would land him to tell you the truth. I'm not crazy about his film, and he has some major work ethic concerns. I'll get behind him if Pruitt and Saban really like him, but I get the feeling he's Brent Calloway 2.0. We'll see. We're either leading or in the top 2 for so many top LBs this year, I hope we're going to be extremely picky. I haven't really wanted us to get Ignont or Benton, honestly.

Really wonder what happened on this one. Bama all of a sudden make him a priority?

Landing Moultry takes sting away a bit but would suck to lose out on a local kid that you lead for basically a year or so for...

Oh recruiting....

In my opinion it seems like Alabama chose to recruit Benton over Ignont.

I think Ignont is the better player.

Would make sense if Pruitt liked Benton more. Ignont at one point named UGA leader after Kirby went to UGA so I am guessing it's a difference in evaluation. Smart seems higher on Ignont.

For what it's worth KN seems to think it's not completely set in stone but that could just be him trying to ease his subscribers into reality

Also I trust bama recruit writers more than AU guys. Seems like they are always a step ahead although KN is not bad

I actually think Ignont fits Bama better than Benton. Not sure where Benton plays on Bama's defense, the SAM maybe?

Ignont supposedly gave a silent commitment to Bama. I doubt Bama will take both with all the other LB talent in this class.

Looks like the one Bama doesn't pick will have to settle for the Barn.

Some people just can't act like an adult. It's to be expected most places here but the recruiting board is typically not one of those places.

Ignont looks like the type of LB Bama recruited in the early Saban years. Benton looks like the type of LB Bama is putting on the field now.

Ignont looks pretty athletic, though. Even with recent reports of him looking a step slower than he did in the fall, I think he'd still be a take. He's a really good player.

Not exactly settle with so many offers and as much interest but I agree with you. AU/UA will split Benton/Ignont.
