He's an 85 rated 3* by 247.

Wish him the best being from Tennessee, but he wasn't going to be a legitimate target for UT in this class.

Of the 18 commitments in Tennessee's 2017 class thus far, exactly 3 are higher than a 3* composite athlete. All somewhere in the mid 80s essentially. In fact there are 7 that are rated lower than this kid. He may not have been a target, but don't try to throw shade like he's not even the kind of athlete you guys recruit. Had he been a commitment for you, you know we'd have another thread celebrating it like the mass of them from last weekend, probably talking about how he's an under the radar steal... Predictable tRant is predictable.

He will get the old star bump for choosing Mizzou.

Just like Holmes went from UR to 95.00 4 star

You're trying to troll UT fans (The subject of your thread says as much) over the #21 player in the state of Tennessee going to play somewhere else when 2 of his 5 finalists are Kentucky and Missouri.

If that doesn't scream UT wasn't interested, I don't know what does.

Congrats on the pick up though?

Wow, thanks for your interest in the program.

You can post all the numbers you want, but it ain't changing the fact that Tennessee didn't seriously recruit him.

Very embarrassing weekend on the recruiting trail last weekend for sure, but doesn't mean we should keep piling on with more Mizzou/UK level players just because we took a handful last weekend.

Those kids who committed last week will be told to get lost if we have a good season.

Wasn't really my intent in the post(s) at all... Obviously, probably not exactly the "quality" haul you guys were looking for, but mid-high 3* guys are going to make up a good percentage of a lot of rosters, even in the SEC. Ultimately, there is something to be said for coaches evaluation, fit in system/atmosphere, etc. I may give you Vols shite sometimes, but I'd say from a recruiting standpoint, it's hard to argue with the direction Butch has the program going after the better part of a decade of poor recruiting and often worse on field performance.

Meh... again, I don't think the lack of continued recruiting for this specific kid is as much due to his star rating/quality, and more so due to the fact that you already have 4 DB commits, and at least at this time, feel pretty good about your chances some high quality kids. Ultimately, he's instate, and if things got tight and your staff determined they liked him more later in the year, you have a good chance at pulling him even if he's verbally committed to pretty much any of those programs except maybe Clemson/UNC.

Lord help you guys if one of your coaches ever goes on a "loyalty" tirade on twitter, . I understand that every program does it to some degree, but if you guys do that with as many as 8 kids in a single season, recruiting is going to get awfully difficult. I've heard murmurs that it's already challenging for UT to get time with athletes at some schools due to how they've handled this poorly over the past couple of seasons... could just be BS chatter, but I do think there's a balance that has to be struck on that front.

Can generally be used as a disclaimer for most teams. I'd say it's probably more about "not having a bad season", than anything else. Vols should find out early how 16 will go for you. As stated elsewhere, the second half of your season should pretty much be cruise control. FWIW, I have you guys as the most likely to make it out of the east, but do like our chances if we pull the game out at home. Schedule is definitely not particularly friendly this year for the Vols.

I like you Squared, but you know damn well that if we pursued this kid, he'd be a Vol.

V&S you're good in my book as well. And yeah, probably at least a 90% chance... Sure. I've even said as much. Simply was in disagreement with the idea that he wasn't recruited just because he's a 3* and someone decided to get all bent out of shape about it.
