A bad season on the field and I think it will be tough to pull the real targets, so he's got this batch of slaw as his backup plan.

A good season by VOLS and I would bet 10+ of these guys will be "finding a better fit."

Yes, so far. The 4* is an '18 kid. Apparently more coming.

I get it and agree, just doesn't make sense to me. I understand processing a couple, but shite.

I think this year will be fine on the field, I just wonder how much Title IX is affecting things.

Kid needs a lot of work to play in the SEC. I watched our 195 lb DE whip his tail all night last year.

This kid will never sign with Tennessee imo.

I like Bumphus, Lawson, Fant, Taylor and Jackson. The others should be processed imo

The class is currently ranked #9 nationally and a couple of these commits will get bumped to 4*s (Bumphus is already a 4* on some sites). Princeton Fant, for example, is very underrated right now. We're no where near done with this class.

As far as this recruit goes, OT is notoriously difficult for recruiting services to evaluate. Chance Hall was a 0.8585 3* rated 676th in 24/7's national composite who was coming off an ACL tear (actually now that I think about it it might have been an achilles tear) and whose commitment surprised many. Jordan Tucker is a 0.8534 3* rated 675th in 27/7's national composite.

tl;dr - No reason to panic other than panic seems to be our default state ever since Fulmer was fired. Save the panic for when something actually happens instead of wasting time anticipating it.

Not panicking, just don't see why this guy is a take in June when you still have Eze and Smith. Like volfan said, doubt he signs. I don't follow recruiting very closely, but there are 3-4 on the commit list who have no business being there right now.

Edit: Overall point being that I think this will be a good class and there is no reason to take so many tweeners and projects.

The panic part wasn't really directed at you - more the fanbase that freaks out early every recruiting cycle when we take 3*s and doesn't realize that very often those 3*s get bumped to 4*s and/or if they don't improve don't end up with us anyway.

I don't think we're looking at this guy as an OT more a road grading guard and we have enough depth on OL right now to take a project like that. Mahoney earned my respect last season when he finally had some of his recruits on the field with a little experience under their belts. And our true feshmen stepping in at OT and OG during the UGA game and performing at such a high level spoke volumes about the type of recruiting evaluation and coaching Mahoney is capable of.

Ha, we continue to earn our 'legions of the miserable' moniker.

Most of the pickups today are good recruits and should pick up a ratings bump. I guess there are a couple of head scratchers to me. No big deal though, I think a few big names will commit soon.

Johnny called us right.

And yeah the bigger names are coming, imo. The Maleik Gray commitment was huge. He's one of those players that has the respect of other players. There are a few high profile recruits that his commitment can have a positive effect on. I love our chances with Eze given his ties to Tiny and other UT players and I think that ultimately Tee Higgins comes back around. He's been in a whole lot of contact with the program, players, and fellow recruits lately.

Agreed and I wish Butch would stop doing this. Even if you don't care about the kids getting burned because "Recruiting is a business" you would have to think he is going to burn some bridges.

It is ranked 9 because of the amount of recruits. Unless some disaster happens this class will be in the top 10 easily, but it won't be with a lot of these prospects.

There were some commits that I really liked.
