Correct, but he's just a low 3-star...kind of like the 2 guys on Scott's offense. Not guys that basically just made each QB great.

For instance McMillian had some big time D1 talent on his offense. Heck, he probably wasn't even the best QB on his team. I have big time doubts about him, vs. Scott or Brennan. I think they both just have "it".

I've got no idea about this kid, but I do know his HS coach sent out a tweet bad-mouthing ole miss because we wouldn't offer his guys

For all I know they could have the next Joe Montana down there, but I hope we continue to not offer his players just because of that move

I'm not downing the kid at all. However it leaves me scratching my head being Both Miles and Cam have said that we're moving more towards a spread offense.

Maybe I'm one of the few, but I don't like the pick up. Looks like another Hayden Rettig.

I watched him play in the state championship. He was pretty good until he got a little pressure and then he was very inaccurate. If he gets time to throw I think he could be an above average qb though. State didn't offer because I think they are only taking one qb in this class.

Let me let you in on a little secret. You're not moving towards a spread offense.

The kid plays out of the shotgun almost exclusively. What do you think a spread offense is exactly?

I heard his interview on the Matt Mascona show. He sounded like a smart kid with a really high football IQ. Idk if he really is really that smart or blowing smoke

He's got a lot of good intangibles about him. Pocket presence is great, footwork top notch. If he had a cannon for an arm he'd have a shite ton of offers probably. Arm strength is probably around average for his size.

ESPN certainly thinks very highly of him, just ranked him the #9 (pocket) QB in country. Interestingly enough, they also ranked the other QB we are expected to get this class, Lowell Narcisse, the #1 (dual threat) QB in the country.

Ole Miss offered Friday. I hope we can keep him. Being the only QB in Ole Miss' class has to be tempting

quote:

"Right now I'm committed to LSU. I understand they have obviously taken a few quarterbacks It's definitely going to be a conversation at the table with my mom and dad," Brennan said. "If things change, great, then I have this offer. But I'm not just going to decommit and go to Ole Miss because LSU has another quarterback and Ole Miss just offered."

I'm just glad we have Narcisse on board. I'd love to keep Myles, but I wouldn't lose any sleep if he flipped.

Frick that! We need both, but I don't think he sticks. I mean, he does say "RIGHT NOW I'm committed to LSU." So I think he's already shown his hand.

and hopefully a spread offense to put them in to thrive.

Serious question: do you have the staff to actually switch seamlessly to the spread? I don't think your OL coach nor Cam have a whole lot of background in that realm...and the OL technique, calls and athletes are pretty different than a tradition "pro set".

Grimes was at Auburn under Chizik. So yes he absolutely has spread experience. Cameron can adapt and we brought in Craig to bring spread elements to the offense. We are never going full time spread under Miles (he continues to give scholarships to fullbacks and "blocking" TEs), but certainly we can increase those aspects of our game and have the coaches and personnel to do so.

Also, spread offenses aren't some sort of magic thing. They are generally some of the simplest offenses out there. Much harder to run a true pro style system than a spread system. The spread is meant to be easier.
