In 1 hour, 9 players are going to magically become better than they were previously

I have a problem with it too FWIW.

I get they want to have 32 5-stars because it fits their whole "Potential 1st Rounders" narrative, but they are basically saying only 23 guys were good enough throughout every previous ranking, yet now they are giving out another nine.

The problem I have with recruiting rankings/sites is they are biased toward players who attend camps.

For instance, didn't Chris Allen not attend camps on a regular basis? He's obviously one of the best 30 players in the country, yet is undervalued.

It's not just the camp circuit.

It's well known that ESPN boosts the rankings of the players participating in the Under Armour Game to enhance the "prestige" of the game.

247 does the same thing with the Army Game. 247 selects the players for the game and they typically rank those guys higher than the ones attending the UA Game.

Gonna guess:

K'Lavon Chaisson
Jacoby Stevens
LaBryan Ray
Jeffrey Okudah
Stephen Carr
Tua Tagovailoa
Aubrey Solomon
Tadarian Moultry
Jeff Thomas

Also I bet Walker Little takes the overall top spot.

Good list. They have Foster Sarell at #1, but he didn't play very well against the elite talent in San Antonio for the Army Game.

I hear that, but it could also be that they are saying, based on early evaluations these 23 are clearly in our top group and we have several others that we need more evaluation on before we finalize that top 32 that are 5*s.

I understand that at the all star events they get more time watching these kids all week AND against better competition than what they play against in HS on a week to week basis. I'd have a bigger issue if they DIDN'T have a final ranking after that last evaluation opportunity.

Oh they are. It will be released tomorrow. My issue is that they have admitted every class will have 32 5-stars it in because there are 32 NFL first round draft picks.

They knew they were going to give out 32 so why not give out 32 for the entire recruiting cycle? It would make it much easier to justify in the end IMO.

Grant Delpit needs to be in there. Currently #27 in the rankings and I don't see him dropping 6 spots. Barton will throw a guy no one sees coming in there too. He always does it.

This is faulty logic on their part b/c each recruiting class represents ONE group of kids, but each NFL draft can represent RS SO, JR, RS JR, SR, and RS SR, so the 32 players in the NFL draft could, in theory, come from 3 high school graduating classes.

Yes, because if there is one thing the on field results and NFL draft has taught us over the years, it is that kids that sign with Bama are always ranked higher than they should be.

Walker dominated the practices all week. Which I would rather see that consistency than an explosion of production in one game. I agree with you that Foster struggled, which is strange because he killed it in camps this past summer.

Either way Stanford is getting a badass haul in Little, Foster, Mills and the Parkinson.

Another reason I'm not as high on 247 as most seem to be here.
