The Chargers made plenty of sense for Mettenberger, seeing as this move will reunite him with Ken Whisenhunt, who coached him in Tennessee up until last year.

Mettenberger, 24, is a former sixth-round pick of the Titans back in 2014. He was in the third year of his four-year, $2.345 million rookie contract before his release on Monday by the Titans.

In 2015, Mettenberger appeared in seven games and threw for 935 yards while completing 60.8 percent of his passes to go along with four touchdowns and seven interceptions. Mettenberger finished 0-10 as a starter for the Titans.

Poor kid was under siege in Nashville. Our line got like 5 QBs hurt in a couple of years. I think Mett might make a decent QB and hope he gets a decent shot.

Meh, he's a camp arm and i'm not surprised another team gave him a camp shot. Would be surprised though if he's on the roster opening day. Only LSU fans thought he was serious NFL material.

Before the Tigers' game against Towson on Saturday, the LSU quarterback embarked on his Tiger Walk with his hair slicked, his 70s-style mustache ... And with that we learned that Mettenberger is a big Anchorman and Ron Burgandy fan. As confirmed by LSU SID Michael Bonnette, this was intentional.

Yet in his first 2 NFL seasons started 10 games. Seems like they know a little more about him than you do.

Not really. The Titans were just as atrocious around him. They were so bad that they got the #1 pick for a second year in a row...
