Finebaum was a print journalist at one point too. Using tactics like this to elicit reactions. It got him where he's at today.

I've never felt it was. Going back as far as just being on local Birmingham stations.

I disagree. It was usually solid radio. Yes, he's always had the planted callers for "entertainment value", but going all the way back to '91 or '92, there was good commentary, and great guests and interviews.
On another note, I wonder what ever happened to Steve from Forest Park. He had to be the most hated caller from the 1990's.

Great Bianchi moment. He writes column absolutely blasting Saban for referring to Tressel as a "soldier" as in Saban said we lost another soldier or something when Tressel was canned. So Bianchi just blasts Saban for it, saying he was being disrespectful of real soldiers etc. So Bianchi goes on the air the next day and this dude calls up and says "Hey Mike, do you remember Joe Blow (I cant remember the guys name) who played on the PGA Senior Tour?" Mike says "Yeah I think so, why?" Caller "You said he was a good soldier in one of your columns" CLICK.
