Would you rather have your team win the SEC, or win a Heisman?

It's an easy question for me - conference championship - but I wonder what some of the rest of you think.

We all know the Heisman is a joke, but we still pay attention to it anyway. Basically the Heisman comes down to a competition between the best QB in a winning spread offense, the best RB on a national title contender, or the best player on Notre Dame.

If the player is my son, I will take the Heisman.

Otherwise, win the SEC.

Most older Bama fans have been conditioned to not care about the Heisman. I think Coach Bryant's attitude about individual awards, coupled with the fact that we never had one for so long, has us down on the award even more than most people.

Actually it was the Peyton snub that did it for me. But the other stuff mentioned is accurate.

Of course they do, it's almost impossible to win the Heisman playing on a shitty team, no matter how good you are.

Lots of worthy players have failed to win it simply because they were on teams that weren't successful.

It shouldn't matter, but it does.

The Heisman is largely a joke. it's too much politics and popularity contest.

As an Alabama fan, I always said I just wanna win one, just for the sake of having done it, but after that I could give a shite. Well, we won one, so it's done, don't care anymore.

Obviously a Heisman is nice bonus and I'd take one every time, but it's like not even on my radar of things I care about in a season.

SEC ship not close. Heisman is a cool bonus for the night they win it, but largely irrelevant afterwards.

Picking the "best player" is almost impossible anyway in a team sport. I think Fournette has shown us how a great running back without blocking has no chance.

And over and over we see these gaudy quarterbacks face a stout defense for the first time and suddenly they are average.

At least we've progressed past the "Best player for Notre Dame" every year the way it was years ago. It was even more of a joke then.

SEC easy call and I think most rational people would agree. But I remember some ITAT fringe aubies trying to argue that a Heisman was more prestigious/better than a National Championship before 2010.

SEC hands down. We aren't winning a Heisman anyway because every time we have someone worthy to win it they get snubbed because the media is bullshite.

That one slammed the door shut for me too. Some of the young folks don't remember the days when the Big Ten had an iron grip on the sports media.

Woodson was a very good player with one great game on a big stage, but his main credentials were playing for Michigan and not being Peyton Manning (who had become the "favorite" that everyone was looking to abandon at that point)

Win the SEC. Heisman doesn't even go to the best player like it's supposed to.
