Would you be ok with your team/AD paying $5M to buy out Saban?

Saban's new contract is worth ~$65M over eight years.

That's 8 more years of winning 10+ games.
That's 8 more years of winning the SEC.
That's 8 more years of getting into the playoffs.
That's 8 more years of beating your team consistently.

If the 13 other SEC schools put up $5M each that would be $65M and you all could give it to him today to walk away.

So would it be worth it to spend $5M to never see this again?

$5M honestly isn't a lot for these schools. And it levels the playing field for them pretty quick. Yes your team could beat Alabama in just about any game, but you're not going to year after year. You're not going to get the best recruits like Saban is getting year after year. $5M is really a deal to get him to go away.

For what Dan has done for the university it would be a tough decision. I think there are a couple of big money men that could spare the extra 5 million a year to pay Saban's salary but not sure it would add any long term value. Dan is the second best coach in the country... and by the time Saban retires he will be the best coach in the country. He will be the age when Saban started winning championships... Dan is on the right path.

I would commit the most profane of sexual acts to have Saban coach my team. Money does not even scratch the surface

Who cares if he coaches State? I'd love to pay $5 million just to get him to retire.

Realistically, I'd donate $5 to get him a nose trimmer. That 3rd pic looks like he has 2 party favors stuffed up his nose

I'd stop supporting my athletic program out of complete shock that we could waste so much money.

Let's see, it would devastate and enrage my team's biggest rival while giving us the best coach in CFB. Hard decision by leaning towards yes.

Nah we don't play often so it doesn't matter, and it's funny to see the sec west melt over him every year.

The OP is about paying Saban NOT to coach, not to come coach at your school.

Saban is a shell of what he used to be, and not worth the $5M.

Five years ago? Sure, but today? Pass.

Frankly no. Nick is keeping the entire SEC on top which only helps my program.

Actually an interesting premise.

As an LSU fan, I would do it in a heartbeat. Anyone saying otherwise is lying to themselves. LSU, AU, UF, UGA, Tenn, A&M would all band together and do this if they could.

Schools like Mizzou, UK, Vandy probably wouldn't because they aren't winning anything with or without Saban in the SEC. But the other schools would still pay more to make up for the schools who wouldn't be interested.

Thanks for the correction.

In that case, we'd still devastate our biggest rival which would improve our overall chances in SEC play. We're the only East team that has a near-automatic conference loss on their schedule every year which puts us at a true disadvantage against UGA, UF, and every other East team. It would be tough because that's a lot of money to sideline someone but overall the benefit to us would probably make it worth it.
