first, getting rid of the no name schools and paring DI down to 60 or so brand name schools.

Next, organizing them into the traditional conferences, say 5/6 10-team conferences (Pac, 2 Bigs, SEC and ACC). BYU, Notre Dame etc have to get in where they fit in. Play everyone in your conference and 3 OOC games. No more conference championship games. Conference champion is based on record and tie breaks. Some governing body sets the OOC schedules. No more complete cupcake games.

Last, run the playoffs similar to the NFL with 12-16 teams with the top 2 from each conference automatically in and a couple wild cards based on rankings or whatever.

Are you a traditionalist, or a progressive?

The NCAA is anything but a democracy.

I don't understand the purpose of the directional schools being in DI. They are bye weeks where you try to sell out your stadium.

Ole Miss is already heading in this direction. Well, they pay players same as the NFL.
At least that's what I hear.

In reality non power 5 schools are not competing for the same title as we are, so yes. For instance ULL, Tulane, and La Tech are not competing for the same title as LSU, period.

You can still schedule those teams OOC, but let them fight for their own NC.

Go 4 conferences of 16 (64 instead of 128), winner of each plays in 4 team playoff, no at large bids. Big time OOC games only contribute towards entertainment and don't affect conference standings. Also gets rid of a committee deciding which power 5 champ gets left out. Stupid to have 4 playoff spots and 5 power 5 champs

I think this is what's coming eventually, and it will kill a lot of great in state, non conference rivalries. I also believe Notre Dame will eventually be forced to join a conference, and that conference in question is the Big 12.

I would love to see some sort of tie in between G5 and P5 conferences where the shittiest P5 teams get relegated to a G5 conference after a terrible season and visa versa
