Would John Chavis be the head coach at LSU in 2016 if he had stayed?

Seems like as the best assistant Les had on staff, he would have been offered the job?

Serious replies only please.

Hopefully Steele can handle the interim job in the Music City Bowl

I'm pretty sure he was quoted as saying that he had no interest in a position as a HC. I could be wrong on that though.

I want to go to the Music City Bowl. I missed the Nashville trip last weekend.

If Chief had stayed, Les wouldn't be getting fired.

Think of all the people you know, or have seen through the media, that have proved the dreaded Peter Principle correct. Someone who was great at the role they had, and then was promoted to a spot they were totally unsuited for.

I tip my hat to Chavis. He does what he does and he knows where his comfort zone is.

Why would you say that?

How's he doing with A&M's defense?

With the talent on the defensive side of the ball that LSU has, Chavis would have given them a top five defense. They would not have lost to Ole Miss or Arkansas in my opinion and a one loss LSU team would not be looking for a new coach.

Chief has never wanted to be anything more than a coordinator.

I disagree. Chavis is not the reason why Arkansas has defeated LSU the last two years. The putrid offense LSU boasts is what did them in. Watch the 17-0 win Arkansas had over LSU with a Chavis coached defense and the blame for that loss is easy to see.

True, can't dip if you have to be on the sidelines.
