Add OK and OK St and go to 4 Divisions. Play every team in your Division (3 games) and rotate another Division (4 Games) each year. Have a 4 team playoff for the SEC Champ. SEC Champ and runner up will have played 9 SEC Games.

The thing I hate most about the current setup, is how long between the time is for playing opponents in the other division.

Mizzou has been in the SEC three years now...and LSU still hasn't played them.

Yea, that's the thing I don't like, also. It's why I preferred playing 2 rotating games, versus the 1 we played until '02.

But, like most things, it just makes too much sense and someone with power would be anally pained by the idea of Auburn not playing LSU or Ole Miss or Arky or Moo State every year.

I'd love this, but I don't have any power. Let Missouri be Auburn's cross-division opponent and we'll play you guys.

Why the hell would we have a North division in the SEC? Get your head in the damn game son.

I get the feeling this is the most likely outcome, 4 pods of 4.

Arkansas
Missouri
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State

Texas A&M
LSU
Ole Miss
MSU

Kentucky
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
Alabama

Auburn
South Carolina
UGA
Florida

Or... we don't needlessly expand and we just switch Auburn and Mizzou. The East gets a better program to bolster the division and the West gets a relatively lighter program. Everything balances out and UGA doesn't have to take a fricking 4 hour flight up to Missouri every other year.

I just googled the distance by plane and thats what it gave me. Apparently all commercial flights up there have a layover. Still, frick having to fly up there every other year. That's like when the Braves were grouped into the NL West in the early 90s; makes no sense.

If Auburn went to the east, what would the permanent cross-divisional games look like?

Alabama - Auburn
Arkansas - Tennessee
LSU - Florida
Missouri - Georgia
MSU - Kentucky
Ole Miss - Vandy
Texas A&M - South Carolina

Nah, we can afford a conference loss and still win the north. We would more passed about not having insurance in UGA to choke away the division title.

EAST

1. Auburn
2. Georgia
3. FLorida
4. Kentucky
5. Missouri
6. Texas A&M
7. Ole Miss
6.
7.

WEST

1. Alabama
2. LSU
3. Tennessee
4. Vanderbilt
5. South Carolina
6. Miss. State
7 Arkansas.

Just try to balance the division and forget geography.
I took the Power 6 then put 3 on each side then ranked the other 8 in what I believe to be a few years out. . Kentucky and Vandy the bottom two split them, SC without Spurrier and then try to balance.

Of course you could always not do geographically And just put the rivalries in divisions
basically your switching Auburn/Bama with Mizz/SC.

ALABAMA
AUBURN
FLORIDA
GEORGIA
KENTUCKY
TENNESSEE
VANDERBILT

ARKANSAS
LSU
MISSOURI
MISSISSIPPI
MISS STATE
SOUTH CAROLINA
TEXAS AM

Go to 9 games and rotate 3 cross division games every year, play entire conference at least once every 3 years.
I know it seems unfair to USC a bit, however you could work the schedule conceivably, so that they are guaranteed at least 1 of UGA, UF, AU, UA, or UT at home each year, also the years they have to go 5 away scheduling will keep the travel distance to the away games to the least possible distance.

Yeah it's pretty obvious. The divisions are pretty nicely split if you do that.

The thing I like about further expansion is the potential 4x4 divisional lineup. You could play the other three teams in your division and each division could rotate which other division they play that year. You would all play the exact same teams so you could use records to fairly pick who represents your division in the 4 team SEC championship playoff. You could also go back to having divisions in basketball because the schedule would work out. You play teams in your division twice and every other team once for an 18 game schedule.
