CGC was a dissater in many ways, but he did win a BCS title and CRZ left the barn full for Urban. No way they should be 1 an 2. Top ten, but not 1 and 2.

Chizik hired Malzahn and won a NC. I would leave him off.

Ed Orgeron has to be #1.

I'd put Mike Price over Franchione in terms of worst hires for Alabama.

Yeah...I don't know how you can include Chiz. Somehow, he was able to pull a cystal ball.

DiNardo took an LSU team that had 6 straight losing seasons and changed that. He raised the graduation rate to 70%, the highest ever at that point, beat Sabans Mich State team, and was 33-24. Could have been worse. I'd say he helped "bring the magic back." DiNardo is also the man who beat Spurriers #1 UF.

I think you have #1 correct. John L was given a race car, which he immediately drove drunk into a brick wall. He was so wrong for that job, yet the flagship wanted to continue any semblance of Petrino, no matter the risk.

Orgeron just couldnt win at that point in his career. He was a great recruiter at OM, which provided the perfect opportunity for a guy like the right reverend. However, his style set him up for failure from the get go.

I know no one cares about UK, but Joker Phillips is borderline retarded. He was a horrific hire. They actually had something brewing in Lexington.

Just some names to throw out:
Mike Price
Bobby Caldwell
Mike Sherman

Anytime you hire someone and they go winless in the SEC, the name has to be at least mentioned.

Bert.

What?

Are you taking into account their tenure the school, or only their career before being hired at said school? The latter is the only way it makes sense.

Actually, it doesnt because Gerry was hired pre-BCS

Dooley is the worst, no question about it. Kiffin is top 5.

Other than WTF? He was hired before the BCS.
Eta: Glad to see all the backlash supporting Dinardo. I've always thought he didn't get the credit he deserved.

I guess that even though Bert is an abortion of a hire, Arkansas isn't important enough to make the list?
