First, here are the final regular season attendance figures for both Arkansas and LSU for the 2009 season. With Arkansas probably blowing it's chances to host a regional and LSU guaranteed a regional, I don't expect the average to change much. If anything the regional/super will increase LSU's overall average for 2009.

LSU
Total Attendance: 353285
Average Attendance: 9548

Arkansas
Total Attendance: 244270
Average Attendance: 7879

Difference
Total Attendance: 109015
Average Attendance: 1669

Here are woopiginaustin's post from 2 different threads below:

2009 SEC Baseball Attendance - LSU Leads

quote:

In other words, at this point of EVERY year, Arkansas lags behind in total attendance but once the weather becomes tolerable Arkansas has attendance numbers that far surpass LSU.

quote:

Our average isn't much different than yours.

With both LSU and Arkansas mid week attendance figured in, LSU is averaging about 1,000 more per game.

Substantial but, like I have said a million times, it is always a game of catch up with Arkansas.

Whether you care to discount it or not, our fans show up in larger numbers as the weather warms.

There will not be more than a 500 person difference in averages, just like the last 5 years.

Wrong - LSU averaged 1669 more than Arkansas in 2009

quote:

Any one else want to get bitch slapped with facts?

Fact - 1669

quote:

There is nothing special about LSU attendance when compared to Arkansas. Just more home games. That's all you are really bragging about. You play more home games! Congrats.

LSU had 37 and Arkansas had 34 home games in 2009. Do those 3 games really account for the 109015 difference in total attendance?

quote:

It's all about averages and relatively speaking, it isn't special.

1669 - That's 20%+ higher average attendance than Arkansas.

quote:

total means nothing when you play 5 to 10 more home games. Hell, just schedule more home games and you can jerk yourself off even more.

After this regular season, there is only a 3 game difference. If you really want to make it more even, hope and pray that LSU doesn't host anymore regionals and Arkansas does.

quote:

The only way to measure your support is to look at averages. When you do so, you see that there is absolutely nothing special about LSU when it comes to attendance, relative to Arkansas.

LSU's average attendance in 2009 is 20%+ higher than Arkansas.

quote:

Point being, and I'll bow out, there is nothing whatsoever that is special about LSU's attendance figures when facts are brought to light.

See facts above.

19,356

quote:

LSU has also averaged 5 to 10 more home games and gathers for a Tiger circle jerk over their total attendance despite the average being the same as Arkansas the past five, now 6, years.

The averages were never the same. Most of the last 5 years LSU averaged 500+ more than Arkansas. Consider most of those years were LSU's worst on the field and Arkansas' best on the field.

quote:

1)Arkansas and LSU have averaged practically the exact same amount of asses in the seats the past 5, now 6, seasons.

Nope on the 5 and definitely not the 6th (this season).

quote:

Again, the past 5 seasons is all I have mentioned. 6 if you want to come back at the end of this year. The averages are the same.

1669, 20%+ average attendance is not the same, or even close.

quote:

We have the same end of year average the past 5, and probably end up 6, seasons as LSU despite lower attendance numbers the first half of the season, due to cold temps.

Again, not 6.

quote:

If we matched you in attendance average for 5, soon to be 6, years and the trend continues for the next 20 years, will you still ask what happened pre-2004?

You were way off on this season?

quote:

Which furthers my point, once it warms up, we catch up to LSU.

Nope. Arkansas went from within 1800 of LSU on April 6th to witihin 1400 at the end of the regular season. Nice 400 second half gain. Still 1200+ to go.

quote:

We will be within a few hundred of LSU when it's all said and done, just like the past 5 seasons, one of which we exceeded by 1,000.

It's all silly really. But, I'm right when I say that every single year Arkansas attendance sky rockets once it quits snowing and the weather warms.

I'm just going to keep this thread alive as my childish, silly way of proving my point.

Sky rocket? Someone must have forgotten to light the fuse up in Arkansas. Way to prove your point!!!!

He's going to want the temps to all the games to show that the weather dictates the average PAID attendence numbers.

Well, in all reality, the entire LSU series was pouring down rain.

There are 3 games that no one would want to sit through.

Additionally, while I was obviously off about catching up to LSU, we gained 400 per game as the weather warmed. This more than likely would have been vastly higher had we not taken a fat shite on the end of our season.

But excuses are like assholes, right?

People stopped coming after arkansas went 2-13 in it's last 15 SEC games. There were only 6,000 for the Thursday night game.

SECsports.com has games before last weekends as:

LSU 36 346,380 9,538
Arkansas 27 213,693 7,914

This is much different than yours, even with 3 games added to Arkansas.

Arkansas had 30 home games, not 34.
Page 8

So, 7 more games x 8k = 56k

So......yes.....the combination of shite weather to start the season, a full blown rain storm for LSU, and a complete end of season meltdown pretty much accounts for the 40k difference in the schools (if we were playing the avg. game).

The whole "paid" attendance doesn't really make much difference.

I think because of the unpredictable and often cold weather, we have a lot more people walk up and buy tickets. I did that personally about 8 times this year.

LSU wins.

We're second in the nation. Not too shabby.

You know, smack from you would make more sense if it ever pertained to anything you beat us at.

I know that might mean a long wait, but damn.

I think 30k(+) would have shown up for LSU had the rain God's not punished Baum for 3 straight days.

And by the time Old Piss rolled around, the season was complete garbage.

I'm not making excuses. I'm simply pointing out that while I was wrong about catching up to LSU, it's not like anyone foresaw the team nosediving or the LSU series barely being played.

Ole Miss finished with 6,537 a game. Not bad considering how poorly we started the season.

You mean like basketball and football?

I actually figured it will only take a few months before we kick that Arky arse in football again.

Its not like you were the only team that experieced bad weather in the whole season. Get a grip dude...you don't put as many fans in the stands as we do, not many do.

Never disputed this.

I said, as all can see, that out of the last 5 years Arkansas led once by 1,000 and fell a few hundred shy the other 4 years.

The reason it was brought up in the first place was the circle jerk on the main board over total attendance despite the fact that LSU always has more home games. This year LSU had 7 more home games.

So we went on to averages.......

Point remains, and I stand by it, that the slim average difference between the schools says more about Arkansas support seeing as how it isn't uncommon for LSU to play a Friday night is 60 degree temps while Arkansas fans at the exact same time have to weigh the options of driving in 35 degree weather with sleet or snow.

So, I was wrong that we would catch up this year (which we normally do as it warms) but for all intents and purposes LSU was a rain out and Old Piss simply didn't draw well.

You guys win.
