Wonder what Gus's plan was if he recovered that onside kick?

With less than 20 seconds left what do you do, hail mary to the endzone, go for 2 and try for another onside kick or was he gonna use one pass to get in field goal range and then cut the deficit to single digits so the loss didn't look so bad?

He did give up rather early considering how he's won games before.

This is a stupid troll.

But on a serious note, Gus conceded defeat too early IMO. Congrats on the win

Being the good coach he is, we appreciated him running the clock out and not using his timeouts. When you used to go to the movies a long time ago, there was always a cartoon before the featured film. Now, when you go to see API play, there's a clown (Gus), on the sidelines acting a fool.

He learned his clock management from Les Miles. Horrible.

I tried doing the math.

Took two seconds for the onside kick.

18 seconds left.

Say 10 seconds for the snap, the scramble, the launch and catch.

8 seconds left.

Go for two.

8 seconds left.

Get 2nd onsides kick.

6 seconds left.

One hail mary as time expires.

So it was possible. Would have beaten the kick 6 if it happened.

I could have seen going for 2 if it would have made the loss in single digits instead of double, or just to make sure Bama didn't beat the spread, but why go for 2 when it really didn't matter, especially if on the gambling board, I needed one point and not two. I even wanted Auburn to make the last touchdown because I knew we would still win, but thought I'd win the money, but noooooooooooooooo Gus had to go for 2.

Gus Malzahn is a pussy and a terrible overall team coach. He's ruined the reputation of some solid D-Coordinators because his offense doesn't allow his defense to be adequately prepared for the long run of each game. We're finally seeing his true colors as a coach when he doesn't have tons of luck on his side.

Clearly this API was not prepared for an onside kick. They weren't aware of the rules and poorly coached as to it's use in a football game. That's Gus. He is really not a head coach-he's still the OC. Maybe one of these days, college football consist of three phases: special teams, Defense, and offense. Even a high school coach knows that. Maybe, he's reverted.
