Does that make it 4 of the six that moved on?

Don't the same 6-8 teams move on every year? Let me just take a guess without even looking.

Florida
Alabama
Georgia
LSU
Oklahoma
Utah
UCLA

5 of the 12 schools that advanced to the NCAA Championships are SEC:

Alabama
Florida
LSU
UGA
AU
Stanford
OU
Nebraska
Cal
Minnesota

There's still a regional going on, but yes you're right. UCLA and Utah will probably advance from that one.

As it stands, there are 4 favorites that could realistically win going in to NCAAs.

UF, OU, Bama, LSU all seem to be hitting at the right time and are just a notch above everyone else right now.

They would have been the #1 seed in any regional. Whether in Tuscaloosa or not. Tuscaloosa is just a good venue that gets picked regularly.

Surprise surprise the Aggie fan doesn't think college chicks in tights are attractive.

Au contraire mon frere,

I like girls in tights/yoga pants/nekkid as a j-bird. That still doesn't make stripping, lap-dancing, or porn a sport.

Any game where the winner is decided by a judge's opinion of how good they looked doing it, is not a sport. It's entertainment. Just like porn and stripping.

Gymnastics is entertainment, not a sport.

For a gay man, you show surprisingly little knowledge of gymnastics.

It's not an opinion. There are 2 judges (4 in post season) on each event that scores.

At the college level you have a start value, usually 10. The deductions made are normally apparent. You have to hit certain elements, and are deducted if you don't hit them.
There are C, D and E level skills. E being the most difficult, and gymnasts are rewarded accordingly based on difficulty thrown.
It's hard to cheat at gymnastics scoring, particularly in the post season.

But you're right, no one is putting a ball in a basket or scoring TDs. Much like golf, there is no offense or defense, you're ultimately playing against yourself.

Congratulations, you just described the sport of Equestrian, which TAMU competes in, in place of gymnastics. The difference is, gymnastics is a popular and growing sport. Equestrian, on the other hand, is on life support.

as posted in another thread...

quote:

Friday, January 22, 2016

That NCAA tie was established in 2002, when equestrian was added to the emerging sports for women program, which is overseen by the NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics and helps women’s sports become full-fledged NCAA championships. To remain on the list of emerging sports, a sport must grow to 40 varsity teams within 10 years or risk being voted off the list by each division. When equestrian didn’t meet that threshold, the Committee on Women’s Athletics recommended in 2014 that Divisions I and II remove it from their lists. (Division III has never offered equestrian as an NCAA program.) Division II heeded the recommendation at the 2015 NCAA Convention; the Division I Strategic Vision and Planning Committee took a different route and tabled the issue in June. With the tabling, equestrian is still an NCAA emerging sport for women in Division I.

More than 800 women now compete in varsity equestrian programs sponsored by 23 NCAA schools. Four Division II programs will lose their tie to the NCAA in 2017, but Fiorentino said an additional 11 Division I schools have expressed interest in starting an NCAA team.

NCAA.com: STILL IN THE SADDLE

quote:

Following a recommendation by the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics to drop equestrian as a Division I sport, K-State will drop its equestrian program. Starting in 2015-16, K-State will add women's soccer to meet the minimum 16 varsity sports required for Division I status.
