... for ending up with the worst winning percentage in modern SEC baseball history? Possibly ever.

I could only find standings going back to the mid 1970s. But this appears to be the worst SEC baseball teams since then as far as conference winning percentage goes:

.148 1989 Tennessee (4-23)
.154 1994 Alabama (4-22)
.172 2000 Vanderbilt (5-24)
.179 2010 Georgia (5-23)
.182 1983 Auburn (4-18)
.190 1979 Alabama (4-17)

These are the only six teams I can find that finished with a conference winning percentage below 20%.

Right now, Bama sits at 2-17 in conference play (.105). They are on pace to shatter the worst record since the at least the mid-1970s.

Does anyone know where to find archived SEC standings going back further?

With our remaining games being :
- 2 vs LSU
- 3 @ Auburn
- 3 vs Florida
- 3 @ Vanderbilt

I wouldn't be shocked if we only won 1 or 2 more SEC games, which would put us at 4-26.

It's a total fvcking embarrassment and Goff should be embarrassed, regardless of how much "cleansing" the program needed.

If you just flip the standings we are clearly #1.
I think this can be counted as another football nattie!

This isn't Goff's fault. There is NO D-1 talent on that team...period. I've watched them and I know.

This is not a bottom 5 roster in the modern history of SEC baseball. It just isn't. It isn't a good roster, but it is not a roster that should be going 4-26 in the SEC and getting the shite kicked out of them by Jacksonville State and Troy.

This team going 9-21 in the SEC would be one thing, but 3-27 or 4-26 is an abomination.

I haven't watched them all season but for a few minutes last night while flipping back and forth between Draft coverage.

What is the take on the new coach? Obviously it can't all be his fault. A team doesn't get this bad in one year. Is the general feeling of the Bama nation that he will clean up the program in time, or has the fan base turned on him?

He is the polar opposite of Gaspard, and as can be expected he is changing the program and the mentality drastically and that has led to some rifts and some issues. On top of that, it isn't a great roster. So, being bad is not a big deal. It's understood. And, even being this bad isn't a long term issue assuming things start getting better.

But right now, this is embarrassing. They are still playing hard and losing a lot of close games, which I guess is some sort of solace (not really, but it's something), but it's still all hard to stomach. However, people understand Gaspard let the program deteriorate and how soft it was. I don't think anyone is looking to fire Goff. But obviously improvement will be expected next season.

How is his recruiting going? Is he hitting the JUCO's hard like at his other stops?

Not nearly at the same level as LT and Campbell. He's got a good class right now, but as usual the draft could destroy it.

BA's #6 overall player, Heatherly, from Cullman (LHP) will almost certainly be a 1st round pick. Sam Praytor is a Top 50 guy, can hopefully get him to campus.

Who knows.

Same talent as Gaspard had, I guess Bama fired a damn miracle worker with him.

Having just endured a similar ordeal in basketball, I can honestly sympathize. Not a having a good team is one thing, but being at this kind of level is pretty rough.

Alabama now 2-15 in the SEC. For those asking, UA can't break the SEC record for lowest win percentage because Vandy went 0-16 in 1962

I can't get too upset because I would be a total hypocrite in terms of my views about changing college basketball.

Butch Thompson at Auburn seems to be working with a pretty good formula for elite pitching that is signable. Seems to target the 5'11-6'1 type of guys that have elite arms and knows they're more apt to go to college over the 6'5 type of guys. We did lose that 6'8 lefty from McEachern, GA last year that threw 98mph, but we signed Davis Daniel bc he's only about 6'0. Tanner Burns is also just around 6'0, who is very highly ranked.
