Will there ever be another major football coach as short as Nick Saban?

Nick Saban is 5'6"

Most football coaches at the college and pro level played college ball. The rare exceptions to this like Mike Leach and Dennis Franchione are treated as outcasts by the coaching community.

Nick Saban played DB at Kent State from 1970 to 1971. While it was possible for a short white kid with a high motor and high football IQ to get a D1 scholarship in the early 70's, it would be a huge feat today for a 5'6" white kid to walk on D1 or even play at a D-III school.

Even a short white athletic marvel like Danny Woodhead had to settle for D-II and he's 5'8".

Is Nick Saban the last of his tiny adorable little breed, or was he just a lone unicorn in his world to begin with?

Making jokes about Saban's height?

Is this what your trolls have been reduced to?

People were smaller back then. Heard a stat on Mike & Mike a few weeks ago that the heaviest player on the Steelers during their 70's dynasty weighed 273 lbs.

Nice troll, though.

Maybe it gave him the desire to be great? Maybe short coaches are the way to go

That's the difference between Alabama fans and Auburn fans. One fanbase has playoffs on their mind while the other would rather think about an opposing coach's height.

Have you bought your tickets to the Birmingham bowl yet?

Every reputable source in existence lists Saban as 5'6"

Just google "Nick Saban" and it's one of the first things you see, right under his birth date and above his wife's name.

He has a big commanding personality which probably makes him seem bigger, and he was probably wearing thick heels to compensate. He also seems like the type of douche who emphasizes proper posture

Possibly a child genius with a penchant for sports who breaks into the coaching ranks at the age of 11 ?

I get them free with my girlfriends military ID. How many of you arse hats get to see your teams bowl in person without paying travel, hotel, or for tickets?

And if height mattered for winning NC's, auburn would be looking for the smallest midget on earth to be there next HC.
