I'm I the only one that kind of likes the direction UT took with this punishment? Punishing the people responsible and not the players, now we have to see if the NCAA is what they say they are.

Probably, but I liked the outcome. I guess, though Pearl could just get another job and avoid any of it.

I don't think so....just look at what they did to Dez Bryant for lying to the ncaa....they basically ended his career. You guys had a coach lying to the ncaa.

I think the ncaa will add on a scholarship reduction and maybe a post season ban. And all coaches will have a "show-cause" for 5 or so years.

Pearl will likely be gone once everything is sorted through IMO. The violations originally in question would have landed them a slap on the wrist. The lying, on top of what the NCAA may find in digging though our program will equal major trouble.

Here's a hint....who was the BB player from the Lewisburg area that was going elsewhere and then ended up at UT?

I'm inclined to believe they will.

Those are pretty stiff self imposed penalties, in regards to lying about a meaningless secondary violation.

I have no idea.

The players I have heard stories about are:

Ramar Smith (Test scores, and academics in general are more than fishy)

Duke Crews (See Smith, Ramar)

Scotty Hopson (the whole recruitment, from his Miss St. commitment up until NSD in the fall and then out of the blue deciding he wouldn't sign, to looking like a UK or LVille lock; to signing with Tennessee; Steve Forbes also recruited him)

Josh Selby (Whole recruitment was bizarre; from committing to Tennessee on his first visit; to decommiting at a Nike camp; to eliminating Tennessee all together; to putting Tennessee in his final 2 with Kansas. His mother was also known to be looking for a hand-out. Steve Forbes recruited him.)

Tobias Harris (thought to be the player the throwaway phones center around; he was thought to be a Big East lock and Tennessee's staff doesn't have major NYC connections)

There are a whole lot of coaches laughing at Pearl right now, and I don't really blame them.

Not a snowball's chance in Hell. You're about to get hammered.

Most we get is a scholarship reduction.

Pearl fessed up shortly after he lied. We won't get hammered.

Oh, ok, since the duration of the lie was short, you're probably right. They won't mind much. The NCAA tends to overlook things as long as you're generally a good ole boy.

Dude, he lied to the NCAA. He knowingly committed infractions. He should be fired. You want this clown representing UT Basketball? Go and find another good coach who does not lie to build on the good job Pearle has done.

When this NCAA shite starts winding down on UT, Pearl's gonna do a Pete Carroll. And Vols that have been firmly in his corner will riot and paint their rock again.

Vols will be luckey to have a BB team. And a baseball team, and oh yea, a football team when the NCAA gets through with their "probe".
They will come up with LOIC. And the rest will be history.
Your bama buddys can clue you on what it feels like to have to swallow, not spit.
