it, but I'm a simple fool who doesn't think football geniuses lose to SMU and Navy.

Dude is coaching in his last game as Houston HC. Does it really matter?
He blew out Oklahoma, Florida State, and Louisville

Because fans have absolutely no ability to remember the past when desperate for a hot new hire. CFB history is littered with coaches that seemed to be home-run hires, only to flame out.

You need to evaluate his resume. He was OC/QB coach at OSU from 2012-2014. He's consistently developed QBs throughout his career and LSU has trouble with that so bringing him here would be a good fit. Also he was able to turn Houston from a bottom tier program into a top 25 team with minimal resources.

LSU fans thought Cam Cameron was an offensive genius too.

It's what they do.

You mean like Kevin Sumlin did?

I give him a pass for Navy. Triple option run well is tough to beat.

SMU, however, is the equivalent of Nick Saban losing to Vandy. Big arse red flag.

He got to Houston while they were on an upswing were they not? And they built him new facilities and stadium while he was there.

Charlie Strong had a better resume coming out of Louisville...

ITs still nothing compared to what he'd have at LSU in terms of recruiting and facilities.

Elevating a program in a second-tier conference is a different animal than maintaining a top-level program in a first-tier conference. You get that, right?

Dude didn't have to leave Houston's city limits to recruit top talent. He'll probably regret leaving his hot wife behind in BR while out searching for new talent to kiss on game day.

He's great at getting his teams up for a few big games each year. But like every other coach not named Saban, it's gonna be hard for any coach to deal with the non-stop grind of the SEC West schedule.

I just don't see Herman coming in here and challenging Saban. Houston has lost games each year with terrible schedules. What is that record going to look like when he's playing 9 tough games a year instead of 2-3?

And I know he'll have better talent at LSU than Houston but he'll be facing tougher talent as well.
