Let's face it, the last time the East was any good was 2013 and that year the division champ was 12-2 Missouri Tigers who finished the season ranked #5.

Basically, the East needs a strong Mizzou.

wiBO gets the defense fixed and Mizzou ascends back to its rightful place atop the East. Do not worry my fellow East brethren. A high tide rises all ships and Mizzou will once again put the division on its back and bring it back to respectability.

Last time the East was competitive in the SECCG was with a strong Georgia team.

The East needs a strong UGA.

I'm still surprised we held back that passing attack y'all had against us.

Lock is a good arse QB and should have torn us apart more. Thank God for Eason and the defense.

Just looking at the teams and players coming back in the East I would be shocked if the East were not a lot better next year all around.

No. The East has significantly weakened itself since Mizzou entered the picture. The East needs a strong Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. And if Missouri and South Carolina want to have a good year, that's icing on the cake.

Final Year Rankings for East Teams:
1992: #8 Georgia; #10 Florida
1993: #5 Florida
1994: #7 Florida
1995: #2 Florida; #3 Tennessee
1996: #1 Florida; #9 Tennessee
1997: #4 Florida; #7 Tennessee; #10 Georgia
1998: #1 Tennessee; #5 Florida
1999: #9 Tennessee
2000: #10 Florida
2001: #3 Florida; #4 Tennessee
2002: #3 Georgia
2003: #7 Georgia
2004: #7 Georgia
2005: #10 Georgia
2006: #1 Florida
2007: #2 Georgia
2008: #1 Florida
2009: #3 Florida
2010: #22 South Carolina
2011: #9 South Carolina
2012: #5 Georgia; #8 South Carolina; #9 Florida
2013: #4 S. Carolina; #5 Missouri
2014: #9 Georgia
2015: #22 Tennessee
2016: #20 Florida (current ranking)

The SEC East produced at least one Top 10 team every season up until 2010. It failed to do that in 2010, 2015, and now 2016.

Since the SEC East was birthed, there have been 31 Top 10 teams come out of this division:

13x Florida
9x Georgia
6x Tennessee
3x S. Carolina
1x Missouri

Sure, Missouri has had less time in this division to rack up quality seasons, but even if you average out everyone's Top 10 finishes "per season" average, Mizzou falls behind.

Florida has averaged a Top 10 finish every 1.9 seasons since joining the SEC East.
Georgia has averaged a Top 10 finish every 2.8 seasons since joining the East.
Tennessee has averaged a Top 10 finish every 4.2 seasons since joining the SEC East
Missouri has averaged a Top 10 finish every 5.0 seasons since joining the SEC East.
S. Carolina has averaged a Top 10 finish every 8.3 seasons since joining the SEC East.

Looking at this, no sane person can come up with the conclusion that the SEC East's current weakness is a direct result of a "down Missouri." The East needs a strong Georgia, Florida and Tennessee. Your one lone season in which you finished in the Top 10 does not grant you the "big dawg" status of the division.

South Carolina has 3X finished in top 10. Not that it matters...

Solid stats and good post though
