Will Les get extension this week...

...or after the bowl game? He will need an extension in order to bring in a new OC or anybody else for that matter. No way someone would risk an assistant job at LSU with the possibility of it only being a one year job. Also, I think any assistant coming in would require a buyout of Mikes gets fired.

This will be taken as a flame but there is a lot of truth to it. I wonder how some of the recruits not loyal to LSU will fell as well knowing that Les could be let go next year.

He's under contract through 2019 if I remember correctly.

That's right I forgot about that. Do you think the perception will steer any recruits not sold on LSU the school and the uncertain can certainly hamstring the OC search.

I'd be surprised if they extend him. He has four years left. They will just guarantee a coordinator all of his years. Not that hard to figure it out.

What do you mean guarantee a OC all of his years? Are you talking about guaranteed money through 2019 if Miles is fired?

he has a contract till 2019 and just showed the world that he owns LSU
i think he is fine without an extension.
We just need to go after an OC that isn't making a lot of money.
I would take a job with no guarantee of a second year if the first year thrilled my salary, and got me a buyout.

Assistants at LSU are never signed for four years, so no, that isn't what I mean. Guarantee his money for the duration of the contract which could be two or three years.

Ok I got you. It really is interesting. I figure Bama will have to start looking in the next 3-4 years at the latest if not sooner depending on the end of this season and if/when Saban retires.

They should fire Alleva and just tell Miles we want you to help us pick the next coach

That's not what LSU does anymore.
If Miles is fired, his money will only be guaranteed for the next 6 months. Still a hell of a good deal, I'd kill for that.

They may have to this time. Plus with the buyout being reduced, they can afford to do that.

That might make me box up my LSU hats and shirts, sell tickets and just be a closet, no money spending fan on the couch for a few years

the buyout will be moved to $50mill, lump sum payment.

A smart AD would give an extension with a more favorable buyout for him in this scenario, the number of years would not matter, let him leave on his own with a small buyout, let you fire him for a small buyout, that is the endgame and what a smart AD would do.

I would think they have to do something to make the recruits feel like he will be around a few years.
