Will Derrick Henry be a good NFL running back?

He is an amazing athlete and very strong, but seems to run a little too straight up. He also has great speed but seems slow on his first step toward the line. If so, do bama fans expect him to leave after this year?

Depends on his grade. Anything 3rd round and above, he'd be stupid not to go, considering the shelf life of RBs in the league.

I think Drake will be drafted above him, should they both declare.

As far as his viability in the league...I'm not so sure. He is definitely not the prototypical back.

Glen Coffee had his exact running style and he was a starter for San Fran a couple years back for a while if I remember correctly.

Then he went into the military.

Then he became a pastor.

He'll be a solid player but no star.

I think he can be serviceable, but I don't expect him to have a whole lot of production.

I think he's an amazing athlete that uses his strength and size to his advantage in college... If he got to the holes faster he'd look a lot better... That may be a vision problem or just a slow first step... We all know that you can't hesitate in the league or you're tackled for a loss.

He runs a lot different this year than he did in his first two years.

He'll make a nice living in the NFL. Not the next AP by any means but he'll have a nice career. Probably the best pass blocking tailback in the country. He hits linebackers in the mouth, that alone will get him a roster spot for a while.

He is long-legged even for a man of his stature. His high center-of-gravity, coupled with a slow 1st gear, means that he isn't effective unless used on the edge or with great holes.

Once he is in space, though, El Tractorcito is hard to stop. Waaay too fast for 250 lbs.

I think it's pretty fast, I'll have to look it up unless a bama fan knows it..

That was my criticism last year, but he's a good bit quicker to the hole this year. He's not Fournette or Chubb quick to the hole by any stretch, but he's quicker than last year (when it seemed like it took 4-5 steps to get moving).

He's really just a freak athlete that doesn't have a natural position but works well at RB. I think Scarborough will be similar but he's a bit quicker.

I think he would be a scary, scary man at Mike.

I think he lacks the agility and quick twitch to be a starter in the NFL. He has the speed to get to the corner and the burst to get to the second level but to get there he has to have a huge hole.
