Will Calipari survive this abysmal season?

Kentucky is in free fall and their season is turning into a disaster. Kentucky fans have too much pride in their program to wait around for Cal to figure things out. With only one championship in his tenure, do they cut their losses and go get somebody that can win?

Yea, kind of like 2014? Remember that? 8 seed, 1 and dones don't work, Cal can't really coach, etc etc. Ho hum National Runner Up.

Couldn't win the big game. Kentucky fans don't care about runner up.

This could be the year that they push him to take a NBA job but they won't nor should they fire him.

Is he the biggest underachiever in college? All that talent and he has won as many titles as Tubby

I have to think that after a decade of not being a year-in year-out elite program and now being back that Kentucky people want what they have now to continue for a long time.
Obviously it compares to what Alabama had from 1997 - 2006, and I can't imagine getting pissed and wanting to run Saban off for 3 or 4 years of 12-2 type seasons, SEC Titles but not national title. The death period of 10 years is way too fresh in my mind.

No, they're already looking forward to 2016-17. They'll be loaded, even by their standards.
Calipari, though, is not doing a good job this season. That team looks just awful. They needed Labissiere to be what he was hyped to be, and he hasn't been even close to that.

They're loaded every single year. Yet only one title several years ago to show for it.

Kentucky would be happy to keep him forever. But smart money is on him fleeing for the NBA.

They are best when they have a 1-2 sophomores or juniors who are also starters. It's hard as hell to restart everything every year without at least a few leaders who have been there before. This bunch doesn't really have that. Poythress and Ulis are back, but Poythress doesn't seem to be a leader/alpha dog type and Ulis doesn't either. Plus, some of those guys they signed don't seem to be nearly as immediate impact as the previous classes.
Even with that, they will go 13-3 in the SEC, win 25 games and be a 4 or better seed in the NCAA Tournament.

of course, but isn't that cal's own doing more than anything?

I guess so, but playing a game of signing the best players who won't leave after their 1st year is quite an inexact science.
Signing the best available players and hoping that 1 or 2 of them elect to stay for 2 years seems much easier to me. And, there will be years when you basically have an entirely new roster and it will be a headache, especially the first half of the season.

well i hate the leave after a year bs myself but i have no sympathy for cal in regards to it. you light the match and drop it, don't come crying when the fire starts.

What are you trying to do here? I can't believe you're stupid enough to question if he'll survive this year, so I'm assuming you're looking to troll. More power to you, I suppose.
They go to the final four almost every year. I think that's enough for UK fans. Winning it is obviously the ultimate, but in a single-elimination tournament that's not always easy. Hell, how many years has Bill Self had great teams that didn't make it out of the first weekend? You think Kansas is going to fire him?
Sorry I wasted this many words on your troll. Back to it, sir.

I agree with this sentiment. In fact, I hear we're completely disbanding our basketball program. Next year's #1 recruiting class will be released to sign with whomever, but most likely LSU now.

This is nothing more than a troll. I don't know why you're trying to discuss this with him. Obviously Cal isn't going anywhere.
