a & M - are you using 3 or 4 wide receiver sets most? your receivers should be able to chew bama up with the short passing game if bama insists on playing all those linebackers. I know you have a lot of talented, fast receivers.
bama, what will your front look like against 3-5 wide receivers?

Nickel, Dime and Money most likely. Our base is Nickel anyways.

Alabama plays more nickel and dime these days. Lots of Ragland and Lee as the only LBs.

Football terms are so damn weird.

As Saban said in his press conference, the offense will dictate how much Alabama will run nickel and dime.
I suspect they will be in nickel at least 75% of the time, which Im assuming they will just swap out an ILB for a DB. I believe A. Robinson typically plays nose in that formation as well?

Alabama will mix and match the DL. Typically Robinson and Reed are combos. Payne would likely play NG, but again most are interchangeable.

Which one is it? 3 WR? 4 WR? 5 WR?
My guess is that Alabama will be in nickel over 50% of the time with the rest of the time probably split evenly between dime and a 3-4.
Alabama will not have 3 DL and 4 LB on the field at the same time very much.
This game is a bit of a match-up problem for Bama because it does somewhat neutralize one of Bama's strengths - the front seven and its depth.

It won't matter so you best bring some lube.

We'll play all 35 of them.

A&M will run out mainly in 4WR sets out of the shotgun with an RB in the backfield. The RB can motion out and become a WR5 without changing personnel. We used this effectively against Arkansas to create mismatches and forced them to call a TO.
If we do sub, we will bring in a half-back as a lead blocker/extra pass protection in a 3 WR set. We may be forced to switch to this formation of Bama consistently gets pressure, which is likely. Out of this formation, Kirk can go in the wildcat package and Kyle Allen will go out as a WR. We've only run out of this formation, but I'm sure there's a trick play or 2 that we may see vs Bama.

You'll see plenty of 4 and 5 wide sets. Plus we plan on doing some new 2 back stuff. We've been known to move our RBs our wide and go empty. Bama better be ready to adjust on the fly.
