would Lsu, Ole miss and or Baylor jump atm with convincing wins? even after they decimate Smu, I've seen pollsters "punish" such scheduling with letting a team get jumped. hell throw the darling notre dame in there, they are just below the aggies. never forget 28-52.

Depends on those teams matchups the week after. I have seen teams jump up in poll to hopefully boost a game's viewership.

It's possible. Four cupcakes doesn't help in the polls, especially when Rice is the best of the lot.

A lot will shake out in October. And assuming both are still on a roll the Thanksgiving game against LSU will be huge. Baylor may indeed jump A&M before the end of the regular season. Their problem is they have no choice but to go 12-0, and even then they may get left out over SOS. BU at OU is the only competitive game either team faces for the rest of the year.

Well we did have the early game against you guys (SCe), so we'll not be punished as much as if we had not played the early cross division game. It helps you guys were ranked in the top 10 and thereafter beat the #5 team.

If we had played nothing but cupcakes and no competitive conference games.. i'd say we would be ranked around 14-18 at the moment. There's so many other teams playing OOC cupcakes that I don't think our schedule will stand out. I mean SCe doesn't play a strong OOC game until the end of the year and I think you'd be overestimating the average college football fan's attention span if you think there are people outside the conference paying attention to who played whom over the entire season. This is very much a week by week focus based sport.

Basically our early season game against SCe has helped our cause for our early season strength of schedule. Whether people hold our OOC schedule against us, is lost in the mix in my opinion.

TL;DR = Thanks Cocks!

Baylor hasn't been jumped yet and they have only played SMU, Northwestern State, and Buffalo.

Even if you are still made about the A&M game, which you shouldn't be.. as a Gamecock you should not be super excited about that UGA game, it doesn't make sense.

SMU has imploded this year but they had bounced back as a respectable program under Jones and I believe Rice won the CUSA last season. Those two combined put A&M OOC scheduling ahead of most of the SEC. Plus, the historical connections of those match-ups mean something to the school's fans and I don't think many of them could give two shits about moving in the polls a spot or two because of it.

Also a point I think that needs to be brought up in this discussion is that A&M's strategy has been to grab up old South West Conference rivals for our OOC schedule. This may not be a very noticeable tactic for other teams in the SEC sans Arkansas but getting a couple in state SWC match ups going is something Aggie fans won't shun away from.

It keeps the olds happy with seeing games from the 'good old days' and serves as a presence maker in the state of Texas. I imagine the SMU's and Rice's on our schedule will stay put until some of the Big 12 teams decide to put us on the schedule (they were asked/told to exclude us once we left for the SEC by 'guess who?').

Just thought I'd point that out.
