You gotta figure it isn't good for a team, no matter how good they are, to go like 2-3 months without any real competition. To stay sharp you gotta play somebody pretty good every now and then.

So the rest of the SEC may just be Kentucky's demise, by sucking.

I'm not sure which is worse. How much SEC football is overrated or how much SEC basketball is underrated.

I have to tell someone this at least twice a week.

I'd buy what you were selling if they were blowing people out in conference.

I don't get where getting challenged by teams who aren't ranked hurts their chances. If anything it teaches them they can't overlook anyone.

Pillow fights? There are like 6 SEC teams projected to be in the tournament right now

It's not like we've beaten all these teams by 20. We've been in some tough games. Just look at last night.

The tournament has like what 68 teams now?

I'm sorry, simply making the tournament is not a meaningful accomplishment, it's the football equivalent of going 7-5 and making the Music City Bowl.

Getting a #6 seed or higher is a better overall metric, as that's more like being a top #25 team.

The SEC was only slightly overrated in football in 2014.

People are remembering it worse than it actually was because of a mediocre bowl season, that people interpreted as a horrible one, because it looked worse than it was because the higher profile games were all losses, including two ugly ones.

Bama folks shouldn't even bother talking about basketball.

Why so all the scrub teams that get #11 seeds can feel like they accomplished something?

It's more than Alabama's shite program accomplishes these days, that's for sure, but still doesn't make it impressive.

Like I said, it's the difference between going 5-7 or 7-5 in football. 7-5 is way better, but still not exactly something you throw a parade over.

Not true. Sure 68 teams make the tourney, but there are three times as many D1 hoops programs versus FBS football programs. Being in the top 60 in hoops is statistically more similar to being top 20 in football.

UK hasn't looked great since the UCLA game. Cal had them peak way too soon. I'm not optimistic for #9 this year.

Don't think it will bother them at all. They are getting tested and showing veteran poise when its crunch time. How many freshmen and soon laden teams go 21-22 from the line in a tight game? This is not a UNLV type situation where they are just pasting teams all year.

Cal is teaching them right. 1 game at a time. Eventually they will click in a game against a good team and roll them. No one is beating them if they're clicking. They can be beat but from what I've seen you're gonna have to beat them. They aren't beating themselves

Good point Dawg, @350 plus teams in basketball. The OP has a high standard to maintain with that user name. Unfortunately, this post is not an aberration for him.

Kentucky hasn't necessarily been blowing out everyone in SEC play. A handful of their games have been battles to the end. It doesn't matter who you play, championship teams find a way to win the close ones no matter the competition.
