Replace Alabama with Ole Miss and USCw with FSU.

Then the answer is 'Yes'

both have smaller fan bases the other schools that are playing but they have a captive audience so I can easily see the Sunday and Monday games being huge.

No I don't like blowouts. I don't think USC makes a game of it.

Plus they both have huge fanbases.

Though there are some really good games - I think Bama/USC will be second in viewership behind your pick After all, SoCal does have a large fanbase

Ole Miss vs. FSU
UGA vs. UNC

These are the two most watchable games for me.

Doubt it. If we're going by the entire weekend, Notre-Texas is the only game on Sunday. Going further, Florida State-Ole Miss is on Monday.

It'll have good ratings as always, but unless the game is interesting in the 4th quarter, I doubt anyone outside of USC and Alabama will care.

LA is a big market, but the weather is so nice that many people do not "watch games" even the "big" ones.

When I lived in San Diego USC was at their peak. I remember talikng with a friend from Tennessee about the upcoming UT-AU game in 2004. Another friend walked up and said, "You guys talking about college football? I'm a big USC fan. Did they win this last week?"

I enjoyed living out there, but college football is way down the list of interest for people out there. I saw more SEC flags and car tags than USC.

Now I live in Georgia and Augusta feels like a suburb of Birmingham. Bama flags, tags and magnets everywhere. UGA out numbers those, but not by much. I see some Clemson, USC and AU stuff as well, but UGA-Bama are 1-2. Of course when I lived here in the early 90's, there were many Miami and FSU tags.

It'll be the biggest for a simple reason:

The two biggest shitbird bandwagon fanbases in football, both hoping to be very good this year, in prime time.

Yes, I would think it will have the highest ratings of the Saturday games. I think there is a good chance that Texas-Notre Dame and even Ole Miss-Florida State are the two highest rated games of the weekend though, thanks to less competition.

I don't think the ratings for Alabama-USC will be some massive number that stands out at the end of the season as one of the Top 4 or 5 highest rated games.

It will easily beat Auburn-Clemson in the ratings, but going head-to-head against that game will split the ratings a good bit. I would think a lot of television sets that would normally be tuned in to Alabama-USC will be tuned to the Auburn-Clemson game instead.

Birmingham, Atlanta, Greenville, and Charlotte are four of the largest college football television markets out there.... and they'll be split between the two games. The Alabama-USC game will certainly win the Birmingham market, but I would not be surprised if Auburn-Clemson is even or ahead in the Atlanta, Greenville, and Charlotte markets. There are lots of Auburn and Clemson alumni in those markets. The first quarter of the Alabama-USC game will also be competing in those markets against Georgia-North Carolina. But that game ought not to interfere at all with Auburn-Clemson.
