Why would Herman go to LSU over Texas or Southern Cal?

I'm legitimately curious as to what his ties are to LSU vs. both Texas and Southern Cal (if they were to be open) who will possibly be in competition for his services.

He grew up in California (30 miles from LA) ,worked in LA for XTRA Sports Radio, and played ball in California. Supposedly his wife is also from California. And Southern Cal is big enough to afford a decent coach, if they don't frick it up. So that would all make sense.

He's spent majority of his coaching career in the state of Texas with stops at Sam Houston State, Rice, Texas Lutheran, and a couple years as a GA under Mack Brown at Texas itself. Then returned to Texas for the Houston job after serving as an OC at Iowa State and Ohio State. And we know what Texas would try to throw at him financially.

So is it simply the lure of a SEC job at a school behind Alabama?

Only one of the schools mentioned has a vacant HC position

Because it's LSU! Don't ask questions.

Herman or no Herman, Alabama will beat anyone they hire.

He very well may go to USC. Texas probably won't have an opening this year.

That will have changed by the time Houston finishes its season. Do you think he's just going to be hired and start recruiting for the Tigers tomorrow?

He'll go to whoever writes the biggest check.

I don't put it past Texas to shitcan Strong if he was to lose to some teams he shouldn't this season. They're itching for it and I'm sure someone like Herman probably realizes that too.

In my empty brain I think there is a 40% chance we can get Herman. But if the Texas job is open that's an immediate no fricking way if it isn't already.

Because South Carolina and LSU are on the same level.

USC and Notre Dame are both 1-3. Texas's win over Notre Dame isn't looking so hot now and many of the same problems Charlie Strong has had when he first got there are still there today. If Texas doesn't finish better than 8-4 this season they will can him.

I'm trying to be humble about it but I'm like terrified, excited, sad, and embarrassed all in one.
