I mean you guys are loaded with playmakers across the field. I think if Les can keep his job he needs to go after a spread oriented OC. I believe it was TCU that changed to the spread two years ago and they went from mid pack to competing for the national title.

Just my .02 cents.

I used to be a big defender of the pro style offense, but honestly a plug and play spread system may just be the best option for college.

With the turnover rate at what it is, if you miss on a QB and have a young guy thrown in there you are fricked.

We could have Mike Leach at OC and Les will run his offense. LSU will not stray away from that after 2008 happened

LSU fans see it.
Bama fans see it.
TAF sees it.
Joe Alleva sees it.
Les Miles doesn't.

WTF are you talking about? TCU has been kicking arse for awhile now

We are who we are
LSU is not going to change because of them Pac-12 and Big-12 runabouts

LES MILES: I think the spread offense is a tremendous way to move the football. I have no problem with it whatsoever. It's just a piece of something that we do. But we enjoy the fact that there is a physicality to the style of offense that we run, that we're going to challenge a defense and try to control the line of scrimmage and block them. And it's not necessarily a pass-only event, and I think that that's how our offense is built. I think we'll stay there.

Yeah Tcu was dominate while they were in the Mwc, but I believe they were pretty mediocre in 12 & 13 when they switched to big 12.

they lost Fuente in 2011, went 7-6 and 4-8 in 2012, and 2013

switched to the spread in 2014 to match the players they had and had much greater success.

I think a spread would be a mistake for LSU.

I agree. LSU doesn't need to go full spread. We just need someone in charge of the offense that will properly utilize the weapons we have.

They should work their way up to the spread. Try passing a couple times to get the hang of it.

Switching offensive philosophies isn't just giving your players a new playbook and telling them to have at it. The spread utilizes certain types of players, certain skill sets, and an approach that make it easy to crash and burn if you don't execute properly.

Implementing the spread would require multiple signing classes devoted to players comfortable with that system and coaches with plenty of hands-on experience. It's obviously doable but let's not make it out as some simple switch.

Because they still have a shred of dignity left.

Nick Saban, Gary Patterson, Bob Stoops and Bret Bielema all noticed the trend and adjusted with the times. Coach Miles simply hasn't.

I really can't express how sad I am the Les Miles era is ending on such a horrific note. He's first class, an incredible ambassador to the school, and is clearly devastated we've reached this point. Still, in the end, I have no explanation as to why he thought hiring steele, cameron, and peveto were great ideas. LSU has 3 incompetent coaches managing all 3 phases of the game. It was the perfect storm for this meltdown.

Once our offensive line started to blow arse, a good coach would have switched to the spread.

Just my opinion, but I think when both offenses are working as intended, the pro-style is still more effective.
