Why was FAU able to play their game today, but UF couldn't?

Boca Raton is quite a bit further south, but also right on the coast.

Neither team can afford another loss. Too risky.

There are programs and coaches that enjoy competition. And then there is UF.

Didn't feel like risking any injuries

What happened with UF and their game was pretty awful, but can we stop just naming random programs in Florida like it is the same?
FAU and Miami weren't effected at all by the hurricane. Gainesville was right in the thick of it and in the sphere of the area in Florida that was hit the hardest (effecting law enforcement, families, logistics, etc). These sorts of posts are asinine.

You notice a trend here... USC rescheduled their game = loss, FAU rescheduled their game = Loss, LSU rescheduled their game against UT after hurricane = Loss.
You really expect young kids to be focused on a football game while their families are evacuating???
Ya'll aren't too smart are you?

Florida State seemed focused last night

Again - per the reports on Wednesday and Thursday Gainesville was right in the range of the path.
Read the post again, Florida was dumb (or nefarious) to cancel the game. Let's just not act like Northeast/North Central Florida and Miami/Boca Raton are the same place.

LOL, yeah that whole 1" of rain and 30-40 mph winds was really "in the thick of it".

Add Miami to the list... = Loss
FSU is much more inland and not nearly the hurricane threat as Central Florida. Yes they have families in Central Florida but it's easier to stay focused when you're out West. Plus did you see the horrible turnouts for these games? Did you see the monsoon at NCState? Idiots playing a game in a hurricane.
Either way, it's not your call on when UF reschedules a game. Fortunately, we have people who know what they are doing and don't listen to whiners.

Florida deserves grief, but there was legitimate reason to be concerned playing the game there, especially early in the week. That doesn't mean Florida should have done things the way they did (at all, it was a disaster), it just means it was at least a legitimate concern as they were processing things.
Boca Raton and Miami were almost never considered to be anywhere near the path of the storm.
That's all.
