Why was Alabama picked 13th in the SEC in Basketball preseason?

Alabama finished 8th last year with a joke of a head coach then brought in a winning NBA coach. To think we'd be a laughing stock in basketball this season was pathetic.
This team at least finishes close to middle of the pack. Given the last couple games maybe a tad better.

dude, we're an ok team with some bad blow outs and right now, some flashes of brilliance. I wouldn't start chest thumping quite yet.

I don't think any of the pundits knew you had a Heisman winner at your school when they made these picks. I bet it would be different today.

Oh and Kentucky is only 19-18 in Coleman Coliseum as opposed to 16-12 Thompson-Boling. If you are unaware Kentucky's worst record of all SEC basketball arenas is in Coleman.

I thought we would finish better than 13th, but I can see their reasoning. We were left with very little talent and lost our top 3 scorers. Our best player has to sit out a year.

Basically all of this. Ton of unknowns about this team including the coach.

Historically Alabama is in the top half of the SEC in basketball.
