Why was A&M passed over in the initial expansion?

We werent looking elsewhere during the first expansion... The longhorn network was what did it.

Don't know if they were more attractive. I'm guessing that since Texas hadn't started the Longhorn Network (and their other conference shenanigans), aTm wasn't as motivated to move back then.

At the time, Arkansas was a historically stronger program than A&M.

SEC wanted Texas and A&M. Texas wouldn't move so A&M stayed with daddy.

A&M wasn't able to leave due to political reasons.

K. A&M was closer to heading East and joining Arky, et al than y'all probably think. But yeah, political reasons and a deal being struck with the Big 8 is what happened, even to the detriment of A&M in the long run.

Texas never wanted to go to the SEC in the first place.

They wanted to go to the Pac 12 and A&M was looking into the SEC.

State politics nixed both those potential moves and are what led to the formation of the Big 12.

Why didn't y'all start your own network? Not enough demand for 24-hour gay porn?

The "Longdick Network"

Exactly. I talked to RC Slocum about it once, and he said that he was talking to the SEC but politicians nixed it.

Because of that, the SEC has two programs (USC and Mizzou) it otherwise wouldn't.

There isn't enough demand for any 24 hour network for a single team. I think the LHN proves that.

Luckily we have fixed that in the SEC.

They weren't. I think AM and FSU were the main initial targets.

Congrats on that head to head record. Aggys won more conference titles during that span, so I really couldn't care less about head to head.
