Do you hold to this sports theory? I don't.

I think its a way for the Carolinas of the world to feel more even with Georgia fans (for example) assuming they were both born after 1980. I think its a joke. Your telling me the championships my team wins now will be meaningless to my children? Get out of here

Also, if Bama had 0 national championships in 2008, would Saban even be there? Would they even be considered a top program?

The past does matter, like it or not

Another new stupid poster. Why would you brag about anything you had nothing to do with whether you were alive or not? You grow up in Alabama or something?

"The past isn't dead. It isn't even past." -- Some Ole Miss guy who was cool and understood Southerners. Kinda really famous too.

I mean, technically it's stupid to BRAG about anything a sports team did, considering you yourself had nothing to do with it.

Having PRIDE in your favorite team or program's past accomplishments is totally legit.

And yes, a program's past accomplishment's have a lot to do with its current state and its future.

This is without the dumbest stance any human can take. Also the most self important. We weren't born when the United state's gained independence so we shouldn't celebrate the 4th?. Most on here weren't born when we went to the moon so they shouldn't be proud of that achievement? This is ignorant, stupid, childish and frankly reeks of someone who believes the world revolves around them lot most born this century do. This kind of thinking only evolved with mellenials.

Jeff Daniels- "you are without a doubt the worst generation period ever period."

I think some people overrate the past. Programs do die (Nebraska, Minnesota, etc.).

Programs can indeed die but it takes quite awhile to say that.

Like it's clear Minnesota died, as they have essentially sucked big time for 50 years and have been bad longer than they were good.

It's too early to give up on Nebraska though, they were winning and playing for multiple national championship just about 15 years ago.

There were many people calling Alabama "dead" during the Shula years and we see hot hat worked out.

Historically good programs are usually one great coach from being back.
