Everyone is picking UT. I refuse to buy that they're a legit contender until Butch can show he doesn't melt like a popsicle late in big games.

I watched Eason in the spring game and that kid is gonna be great. Chubb gonna be hungry to prove he's back, and the OL looks like it's solid. Talent across the board at WR. Defense returns a known playmaker in Carter and looks very talented across the line. I'm not too familiar with the secondary but they all look experienced.

It's not unheard of for a first year coach like Kirby to benefit from the excitement of new blood in a program. Gus and McElwain both made it to Atlanta in their first year after replacing a lack-luster coach.

The East schedule lines up nicely, with UT coming to Athens and UF looking to experience a bit of a hangover from last year. West draws aren't cakewalks but very manageable playing at Ole Miss and hosting Auburn.

Virgin head coach
Virgin QB

Do you remember your first time? I remember mine, and it wasn't worthy of an SEC championship.

New Coach. True Frosh QB. Chubb coming off major injury.

Those 3 alone are enough to question the best programs at their height.

There are a lot of wild cards on this team. Will Chubb be 100%? Will Eason be ready? Yes, he was magnificent in the spring game, but using a spring game as a future indicator of actual performance is dangerous. I have cautious optimism with him.

Will the new OL gel in year one under Pittman? The secondary and the pass rush should be awesome, but the DL is young. And then there is the whole new coaching staff thing.

UGA could go anywhere from 11-1 to 7-5 this year. The talent is undeniable across the board, but hopefully the team learns the new systems quickly.

QB and DL are the biggest? marks... If we come up with answers there we'll be in the thick of it...

All of this, but more importantly the True Freshman at QB. When was the last time a true freshmen came in and won his division in this conference?

Sort of like that Dantonio guy, right? Jimbo Fisher is doing alright at FSU, I guess.

I'm not picking them to win a natty or even an SEC championship, I'm picking them to win the East.

On paper, this looks to be Tennessee's year. Add to that the fact that we've got a first year coach makes it a no-brainer.

However, I think Georgia has a pretty decent shot. If we can pull the upset of Tennessee, we should win it.

I'm certainly not writing them off. They worry me as much as anyone on our schedule, including UF and Bama

We are clearly the best team in the East on paper. I don't trust Butch in late games though and if he fricks 2016 up he should be hung on the courthouse steps.

I don't think anyone is writing them off. Most Tennessee fans see Georgia as our biggest competition in the East.

I think the East is wide open. Not buying the Tenner hype machine.

The East is not wide open, it's a 3 team race, and anyone who says differently is delusional.

What has Kirby Smart done in his career?

Saban ran every defense at Bama

I'm not writing them off. I fully expect them to beat Tenner if Chubb is healthy.
