Why is the UT/OU line only at OU -2 right now? Is this a clever Vegas trap?

Why is the UT/OU line only at OU -2? On the surface this doesn’t look like it should be that close after Bowling Green’s 500 yards of offense last week. Oklahoma has an air raid, high powered offense, right? UT’s offense looked sharp as well, but OU should put up a good fight to slow them down. They only allowed 228 yards and 3 points to Akron (who isn't good, but neither is Bowling Green).

But Vegas is really, REALLY good at their job. So, SEC Rant and UT fans, tell me why this will be a nail biter?

And I don’t care about UT or the East, so this is not a flame.

I’m looking at this from a gambling perspective. I saw it on my sheet and thought it was too good to be true. Usually when things are too good to be true with Vegas, they are. Is this a trap game?

UT gave up 557 yards to BG and may never win a game again

Akron and BG are the exact same team

UT was playing at full strength on Saturday

Line should be OU -68

Thanks for this bullshite.

I was serious. I do not care about this game other than gambling. Why is the line at -2? Can you give an adult answer?

First of all, BG is way better than Akron, and the QB for Akron may be the worst I've ever seen so take OUs defensive performance with a grain of salt.

Game is at Neyland, Mike Stoops has a lot of trouble with mobile QBs. Also, OU had trouble running the ball last week.

Game should be a pick em to me, and personally I think UT will win straight up.

I guess I have to ask this to the MSB to get a somewhat coherent response

-2 seems like they're hedging, how else do you read that, sure -1 or even is closer.. but..

If you have to bet on this one, better read your tea leaves carefully.

The reason it's -2 Oklahoma is because Tennessee was without several key secondary players and our secondary coach was not there as well. I'm not making excuses because we played like shite but I think we will better on D this week.

Also this game is at home and the place will be insane. Throw in the fact that we are a good team especially on offense and we have a 50/50 chance of winning this game.

People keep talking about UT struggling but OU struggled mightily in the first half against Akron which was picked last in the MAC this year while Bowling Green was picked to finish first.

Yeah I'm staying away. It just surprised me. I didn't see the OU/Akron game so a previous poster enlightened me there. Knew it was at Neyland and that's good for some points for sure.

I just saw box scores and was surprised by the line.

PS
I'm rooting for UT. I root for almost all SEC teams in non-conference games.

Tennessee was missing two major contributors last week that are 100% for this week, CB Justin Martin and S Todd Kelly.

I'm sure this will get a bunch of and but if you go back and watch the defensive snaps from the Bowling Green game, Tennessee was in man to man cover zero the entire game. That's as vanilla as it gets and I have never seen Tennessee's secondary stay in that setup since Janitors has been here.

I'm not saying we will be great back there but I think a lot of folks on here are writing our defense off a little too quickly based on one meaningless game.

Lots of people buy the Tenn hype and are betting on them? Line started at -3.5 for OU. Lines move based upon money bet.

Me personally...I got OU strait up after line shrunk to EVEN....but I bet the late money comes in on OU.

The biggest thing that I haven't seen anyone mention that could swing this game in Tennessee's favor is Oklahoma started a true freshman and a redshirt freshman at their tackle spots last week and their line struggled against Akron. Our biggest strength on defense is our pass rushers at end led by Derek Barnett and Curt Maggitt.

I think OU's new QB is still some what of a question mark. He looked great but in a hostile environment with good pass rushers(one of his tackles is a true freshman) it could get tough for him.

Add in OU's running game was supposed to be a strength, but looked pretty bad the first game. I am staying away from the game. Tenn looked awful vs BG on defense but not sure what to make of OU quite yet.
