Well. There was that National Championship they had in 1998.
Fulmer cheating his arse off, with cover from Tennessee native and SEC commissioner Roy Kramer, and playing "secret witness" to the ncaa to bring down his major rival, with assistance from aforementioned commissioner. A 9 year span, though, doesn't make for a consistent championship contender, in any event. In the last 9 years, UT has won more SEC games than only Vanderbilt and Kentucky. They probably won't be that bad over the next 9 years, as they won't be as good as the 9 years in the 90s (long time ago now). The fact still remains that their primary success was in the 30s, 40s, and 50s. Look it up. Since the SEC was integrated, UT has won 5 SEC titles. Alabama, LSU, Florida, and Auburn have won more, and UGA has won as many. My earlier point was not that UT was never the 2nd best SEC team but that they are not now, and will probably not be going forward.

A Mister Tee thread with Phat Phil as the first responder. Truly horrific.

That was a long time ago.

Believe me...this thread is not so bad.
I have seen some real head-scratchers over the years on this site.
It is just nice and decent to question the quality of college football every once in a while to keep things up to par.
Tennessee is merely on the table right now. They know what they have to do, but we are growing weary with their lack of productivity in relation to entertainment value.
They are fair game at the moment. And deservingly so.

History and a Nike contract are all Tennessee has

You sound like anew uneducated fricking moron
Tennessee from 2007-1920's was consistently one of the best programs in the country.
The 2008-2014 time period is the exception not the rule in how successful UT has been.

We can't all have Johnny Manziel be the only bright spot in our programs history.
Just think, after Tennessee waxes you at home in front of all those sad fans that have never experienced any success you'll get to try again with another coach once Sumlins fired.
You're welcome.

I wonder how many racial slurs come out of your blister-pocked lips when Sumlin and his baws trash your dreamsicle group of uggos.

As noted above and it's a good and valid point:
The fact still remains that their primary success was in the 30s, 40s, and 50s. Look it up. Since the SEC was integrated about 1970, UT has won 5 SEC titles. Alabama, LSU, Florida, and Auburn have won more, and UGA has won as many. Sumlin is a dead man standing coaching at a mid tier program.
Hopefully Butch can talk to him about getting on with our offensive staff once he's fired as the HC of yours. I don't fault Sumlin for not find any success at A&M when no other coach through out history has either. He'd be a welcomed edition and in good hands though.

You realize these same things were being said about Bama a few years back right?

They make us Alabama fans happy, too.
9 in a row.

Alabama isn't Tennessee. Alabama is orders of magnitude better as a program. Y'all were never in danger of becoming the next Minnesota like Tennessee is.
