Auburn holds a 28-21 advantage over the Tennessee football program.

When did we actually play one another?

Was this some big game in the past?

Tennessee is an afterthought in today's college football landscape. And frankly they are an afterthought in every sport outside of women's basketball.

Then what's Ole Miss?

At one time or another most great programs with tradition go through down times...Where was Bama for several years after Gene Stallings (still have a lot of respect for him)....OSU had several bad years before Sweater Vest....what about USC since Pete Carroll...where has Texas been the past several years?

Good programs go through hard times but it doesn't last.

You can't be for real with that question.

Alabama, Georgia, and Florida have won more games than UT since 1970. Auburn has won one less game but has lost 5 less, for a better winning pct.

edit: I use 1970 because that's about when the SEC programs integrated. Tennessee's heyday was back in the lily white days of the 1930s to 60s.

With new coaching staffs at UGA, Missouri, and USC, and with McElwain in only his 2nd year at UF, and with a new QB, UT should certainly win the East this year. If not, Jones probably never will. In the longterm, though, UGA and UF will be the teams to beat due to instate recruiting advantages if nothing else.

Tennessee is to the SEC what Penn St is to the B10. Two programs with a large rabid fanbase, good tradition and 100,000+ stadiums. When each of these programs are running they take their conference to the next level with upside. It really isn't complicated.

Sports Illustrated came to Knoxville to photograph and feature Bo Jackson. Auburn was ranked number 1 in the country. Tennessee held him to 80 yards while we rushed for 220.

And then this happened:

It was fun when Deon Grant took it to the house on play number one. It was also fun beating them for the SEC title Peyton's senior year as well.
