I keep thinking, sooner or later, one of them will make a run. Just has not happened.

Auburn will be soon. Get ready, son.

Wrong board and Auburn beat us this year. Not cool.
And you can hardley spell.

Is there some reason I'm missing why they *should* be perennially good in basketball?
eta: bama usually is "good" but seldom great. I'm not sure what you would expect from each program. It'd be like asking why kentucky is hardly ever good in football.

Anytime any sports program is bad is usually the result of poor coaching......

I don't say much about grammar here, but you butchered that OP. It's actually painful to read.

Define "make a run." Both programs are historically average in the league, but each has had some solid teams with a strong tourney performance. Are you talking about becoming the Kentucky of the West or something?

Very little in-state talent these days.

No telling.....we do own a 101-67 record all time vs LSU though.

bama was a wrecking crew in the nit a few years ago

probably apathy?
Plus both have shown they can put together really good teams. The only reason LSU would have a slightly higher ceiling is its epic NCAA runs and all-time greats.
LSU would be perceived as a completely different program if it weren't for the Lester Earl scandal. LSU would have over 30 ncaa appearances by now

Alabama has been above average historically. We're 2nd in the SEC in all time wins behind Kentucky.
Auburn has been historically pretty bad, with a few decent teams sprinkled in.

Auburn was a good program under Cliff Ellis, had some GREAT teams. The BS sanctions we imposed on ourselves really put the program in the tank....
But Bruce is comin...

Too young to know better or not a student of history? Alabama isn't Kentucky and never will be. But they are second in total program wins in the SEC.
