Why doesn't Mike Singletary get considered for a college HC job?

First off, relax, I am not a friend of his or his agent, thought I did grow up in Chicago and watched "The Samurai" play.
Baylor hall of fame.
NFL Hall of Fame.
College football hall of fame.
Professional motivational speaker.
Ordained Minister (think that won't work on recruit's moms on the recruiting trail).
Former NFL HC.
I am amazed his name isn't mentioned when jobs are open, I think he would tear it up at someplace like Iowa State or Illinois (especaially there).

He's decorated, but not every former player translates into an elite coach. With spread formations and no huddle offense, I'm not sure a linebacker from the 80s is a great fit. And you have to question his desire to recruit and relate to 16-18 yr olds.

Lack of interest on his part. If he wanted a college job he could get one easily

the school that hires him would be getting the next Charlie Weis.
why go down a road that will lead to a buyout/firing?

Poor performance. His time at SF was horrible, considering Harbaugh came in right after he was fired and made that team competitive. Good player, poor coarch.

I think he would love a college job (of course I do not know I am just speculating).

For Singletary, playing football was a privilege, not a right, and should be treated as such. His first football coach pulled him aside one day and offered prophetic words.
"He said, 'Son, you may be small, but there's something in there,' " Singletary said. "There's something in you that's going to allow you to go places.' "
Former Baylor coach Grant Teaff noticed it. The coaching staff loved Singletary's intensity, but he was such a whirling dervish on the field that he didn't listen to anyone. Teaff instructed defensive coordinator Corky Nelson to ignore Singletary in practice, and didn't let any coach even say his name. On the second day, Teaff stood at the opposite end of the field when he heard Singletary let out a "blood-curdling" scream demanding for someone to say his name.
"He wanted to hear somebody yell at him," Teaff said. "Coach Nelson said, 'We'll call your name if you'll start listening.' From then on, he was the most coachable guy in America."
Singletary had Mike Ditka as his NFL coach, so getting screamed at was never a problem. But he quickly became a Ditka favorite.
"He was all business," Ditka said. "I don't think anybody prepared any better than him. He was just a hell of a football player."

The leftist PC crowd has made it very hard to hire a black coach who is somewhat of a project. They are too hard to hire without ridiculous assertions of racism, etc

Because he was beyond a disaster at San Fran. He seems more like a position coach than a DC or HC.

I'll take Nick Saban while at the Dolphins for 1000 Alex.

It seems pretty trendy to go after young, up and coming coaches that are in it for the long haul instead of older coaches. Obviously that's circumstantial if someone like Steve Spurrier is sitting idle, but Carolina just struck at the right time. Just an idea after watching Florida's coaching search

Why are you curious? If he hasn't expressed an interest in coaching, people aren't gonna waste time chasing down a millionaire.

Nobody wants the 5 0 in charge anymore

Of all the coaches I would compare to an NFL Hall of Fame linebacker, it probably wouldn't be an offensive minded fat arse that never even played a single down of football after high school. Just saying.

You forgot:
Terrible head coach whose team got exponentially better the second he was canned.
Also, excepting 'Former NFL HC,' none of those equate to being even a decent college football head coach.
