Don't forget the welfare state stops at the Louisiana line too.
The culture in East Texas might be close to Louisiana, but at least all those people have to work to survive. The culture of being on entitlements for a lifetime doesn't exist here. Texas straight up doesn't care, if you don't get your arse together within a five year period you can starve and your kid will go without healthcare.
