Why does the SEC neglect NOLA as a host site?

Serious question, how does ATL, Nashville, Hoover, Etc host major SEC championships yet NOLA doesn't? NFL SB, NCAA FB BCS, NCAA BKB Final4, hell even NBA all-star game have been held in NOLA, yet nothing from SEC.

Is it malicious or just negligent? Is there truly a 'Bama biasin the SEC office? What gives?

Nola is small geographically. How can anything be out of the way? Try Houston sometime.

Can't confirm but probably bc Nola smells.

I can confirm the smell; just not the reason WHY.

they bid it out you idiot. Maybe you should make a bid for it if you want it in NOLA.

Makes too much sense. I think it's malicious due to stank.

The baseball tournament should rotate but we know the SEC HQ wants to keep it in their own backyard.

The Birmingham Bowl shouldn't have a tie-in to the SEC. Nobody wants to go there. It's just another example of the SEC HQ taking care of their own.

The conference benefits from 14 universities and 11 states but surely doesn't represent them all fairly.

The SEC's major home-bowl is in New Orleans. It's not being neglected so stop crying already.

No, both were in NOLA.

To answer the OP's question, I'll address it by each sport:
1. Football-ATL is easier to get to for most of the schools in the SEC and it has become a tradition. NOLA has the Sugar Bowl and is guranteed the best SEC not in the playoffs and is in the playoff rotation so we are good there.
2. Basketball-it is too far away fro big blue nation to make it down and sell out every game, plus there is too many other options to do during the games. I went to the SEC tourny in '12 and the games were maybe 80% full, but there were plenty of fans in town they just weren't at the games (it didn't help that was CTJ's final season and LSU sucked major donkey dick).
3. Baseball- it traditionally has been in Hoover IDK why they continue it there it is high school football stadium now that is falling down on itself. However, Zephyrs field is in the middle of the suburbs and nothing special as far as minor leagur parks go. If NOLA would build a park next to the MS river or just anywhere in the FQ or CBD then it would be a different story.

Another big reason is $$$$, with La's budget troubles we have not offered as lucrative tax and subsidy options that other states have. That is why NOLA didn't get selected in the latest round of Final Four bidding and CFB championship bidding.

I love the baseball tourney at Hoover because of RV but I fully expect it to move after 2016 when the contract runs out. Hoover can't keep the field up without the Barons playing there. Hell, Hoover can't even replace the sewer, water, electric, cable connections at the RV park.
