honest question here. Moving beyond the hire itself for a bit.

LSU made a recently fired Cam Cameron the highest or 2nd highest paid OC in the country. And he's not even really the coordinator as we all know it's Les's offense. And now they've made Kevin Steele, who, throughout a long career, has been an abject failure and fired at every job higher than a position coach, a millionaire. What gives?

Is Baton Rouge really that much of a nightmare that no one wants to work there? Does Les rip massive farts in the interviews? Or is he just incredibly shitty at negotiating? Or....am I just severely overrating LSU as a job?

Seriously, why is LSU forced to pay these inordinately high salaries to below average (to put it kindly) coaches?

You pay 5 million to a coach who got beat 59-0 to Saban.....

You pay 1.7 million to a man who can't stop a team with 2 mins....

The joke is on yall.

It's my understanding that due to contracts, the new DC would have to be ok with existing assistants which most likely limited the number and quality of their prospects.

I repeat.... 5 million to a coach who lost to a division opponent 59-0, 5 million

Hell they had to pay me 200k per year to move to college station....

why deflect an honest question? Why are you paying so much for people who were unemployed/taking a promotion? It's just really weird

Cam Cameron is more qualified than anybody you currently have on staff.....

Including Sumlin

Maybe to make our team weaker so you guys can compete?

Who was unemployed exactly?

Coaches get fired from the nfl constantly. Doesn't mean they're bad.

LSU was handcuffed with the assistant contract situation with the steele hire apparently.

There's your serious answer.

he was unemployed when you hired him after having been fired. And I'd say Chavis is clearly more qualified as a coordinator and I'm not even sure how that's debatable.

But let's keep this on target, why are you paying Cam so much??? I think he makes more than our entire offensive staff. Maybe more than everyone in the West but Bama's.

It is impossible for LSU fans to answer this question because they are just as dumbfounded as the rest of us.

Coaches do. It is extremely rare for a coordinator to be canned midseason. Extremely.
