Why do the women's basketball games go by quarters?

Idk if I've been living under a rock or what but somehow I've never noticed this, how does it make any sense having the guys and the girls be different?

Women bitch and need more attention, idk. What are the time out rules?

Lol....good one.
Perhaps they need to pad their quarterly stats?
Obligatory, who gives a frick about women's basketball?

They started it this season. FWIW, they had the 30 second shot clock for awhile before the men. Sometimes I think they give rules like that a test run there before implementing it for the men.

Didn't even know they did...because I've never watched a game and when they show it on sports center I immediately stop listening and check my phone.

I don't know... but if they've done that and still haven't lowered the hoops, then it's still missing the point.
Swallow your pride and accept that the physical demands are different and adjust accordingly. Women's Volleyball has lowered nets, it's watchable.... Softball is a smaller field and diamond, it's watchable... gymnastics uses different apparatuses altogether, it's watchable... women's golf uses closer tees, and, um, well it's golf.
The essence of modern basketball is physical play, scoring and the occasional dunk,
I'm not watching until they lower the hoops and it can resemble real basketball

They don't cling to archaic rules like Men's CBB.

Thanks for the legit answer belle, I knew there had to be something going on for me not to have noticed. Not that I watch much women's, the UT game was on at the bar I was at and me and several others were quite confused why the score was only 18-19 with 7:19 to go in the second half
And FTR I like just having two halves in the men's game, just nice to have something different every now and then

NCAA men's basketball is the only form of basketball in the world that uses 2 halves instead of 4 quarters fwiw. Change is imminent.

Oh I know it is the only one using halves, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is wrong
I'd love to hear the pros/cons from someone who is more knowledgeable than me on the subject

Need to go back to 6 on 6. That was way more interesting. And I don't have to see a woman shoot a layup off the bottom of the rim on a fast break ever again.

Did they really play 6 on 6? when was that? It would certainly be interesting, I can't imagine the nightmares it would cause a coach whose learned and studied under 5 on 5

Women's basketball decided they wanted to adopt the more international rule set.

I feel like this is a trick question somehow.
