It's the dumbest thing ever, but I believe it is because they used to have player/managers with Pete Rose being the last I can remember.

They used to be player/managers/captains. The tradition always stayed.

Or football coaches in pads, or track coaches in shorts and singlets etc...

It's just a shirt and pants. It's not like they're football coaches dresses out in pads.

It almost seems disrespectful to have a 60+ year old gentleman walk around in knickers and sanitaries
Maybe they like it

There have been player/coaches in the NFL and the NBA, but for some reason, with MLB, having the coach dressed in uniform stuck.
Bill Russell simultaneously played and coached the Boston Celtics to a couple of NBA titles in the late '60s. Tom Landry played defensive back for the NY Giants in the 1950s while also serving as their defensive coordinator.

You know, that's actually what drew my attention. I noticed that he had a look in the uni that wasn't ridiculous. That's impressive for an old dude, trust me

1. most coaches do not wear cleats.
2. i wear a belt with regular pants too. if pants have belt loops, you wear a belt.
3. football coaches wear hats too. pretty much any coach that coach a sport outside wears a hat
This thread pops up every so often. It's really not complicated. LINK /

He didn't always wear the pullover, but I think he has worn the exact same pullover for 5+ years now. Nike doesn't even make that particular pullover anymore
