Why did the REC let Greg Sankey be the new SEC Commish

Is is wife a big Bama alumni, or kids going to Bama, or have major business relationships with REC members? I am sure all his neighbors are rapid REC members and all his club members are REC but that is nothing but expected.
What am I missing Auburn guys? What are all his ties to Bama?

Not sure how to take this, but Joe Alleva is apparently happy to have him in place per his comments in today's paper. But I am curious as to who was on the SEC committee that chose him. 12 yrs experience in the league office. What does that say about his perceived loyalties?
