Why can't Ole Miss have a good RB?

OM is certainly improved from the ole Miss of old. However, I don't think championships are to follow.

The reason is that they basically have zero running threats outside of what their QB can gain off busted plays.

Why is it that OM can't get a decent RB?
Or is it that their OL is just bad at run blocking?
Or does Freeze - like Kifin - hate running the ball?

First off, response thread.

Secondly, I don't have an answer other than we just haven't recruited well at that position the last few years. I'd kill to have BJGE this season.

Because they seem to switch them with Auburn and lose out on the deal.

I'm assuming it's because you're allocating your money elsewhere.

Ole Miss is the school that got him suspended for 4 weeks?

Pretty much. When a guy tears his ACL his senior year and the school he's committed to turns their back on him we do what any good Christian would. We take him in and give him comfort and let them have our perfectly healthy RB commit.

they are also bad at pass blocking, losing weight, and avoiding injuries.

Because their Super Bowls are Bama and LSU and you don't beat Bama and LSU with power run games.

Probably a LOT of truth in that.

Lack of elite RBs in Mississippi high schools is probably the #1 reason. Mississippi used to be a RB factory in HS but it has dried up lately.

Obviously Ole Miss hasn't lucked out with 4-star signees from out of state like Dodson (transferred to Murray), Mathers (bust), Wilkins (take when Auburn stole Peyton Barber) or Swinney (injury).

Because Bo Scarborough didn't take his ACT at Wayne County HS in Mississippi?

I was wondering this the other day. I know the 2-deep at most of the West teams but no idea who their starter is.

Iirc, their best RB is Nkemdiche

The OL has been a liability since Freeze took over. We have kids who are not being developed and have not been able to contribute and several kids are not getting better as their careers go along but in fact, are getting worse.
I fear it will remain this way until Freeze decides to make a change at OL coach

Can this be attributed to the spread offense taking over HS football?
